Preserved Silk Protein Fragment Compositions and Articles Manufactured Therefrom
In some embodiments, a composition is disclosed that includes pure silk fibroin-based protein fragments that are substantially devoid of sericin, wherein the composition has an average weight average molecular weight ranging from about 17 kDa to about 38 kDa, wherein the composition has a polydispersity of between about 1.5 and about 3.0, wherein the composition is substantially homogeneous, wherein the composition between 0 ppm to about 500 ppm of inorganic residuals, and wherein the composition includes between 0 ppm to about 500 ppm of organic residuals. In some embodiments, a composition is disclosed that includes silk fibroin-based protein fragments and is suitable for use in consumer applications. In some embodiments, a preserved composition is disclosed that includes silk fibroin-based protein fragments. In some embodiments, a method of preserving a solution using silk fibroin-based protein fragments is disclosed.

A method for treating influenza is described. The disclosed method generally involves administering an effective amount of a compound, for example baloxavir marboxil, to a subject having influenza, where the compound is administered initially at least about 48 hours after an onset of influenza. Generally, the effective amount is sufficient to alleviate a symptom of influenza in the subject as compared to a symptom that the subject has when the compound is first administered to the subject.
BIODEGRADABLE POLYMERIC COMPOSITIONS, METHODS OF PREPARATION AND USES THEREOF
Disclosed herein compositions of polysaccharides chemically cross-linked by aromatic dialdehydes. The compositions may be in form of polymeric sheets for a variety of applications. Disclosed also nano-sized particles comprising the polysaccharide chemically cross-linked by aromatic dialdehydes. The nano-sized particles may further comprise lipids and surfactants. Intranasal delivery of the nano-sized particles enables delivery of biologically active agents into the brain. Topical and transdermal delivery of the nano-sized particles enables delivery of biologically active agents for treatment of systemic or dermatological disorders. Methods of manufacturing and uses of the compositions are also disclosed.

POLYGONI MILLETII RHIZOME COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF PREPARING THE SAME
A method of preparing a Polygoni Milletii Rhizome tincture includes: preparing a first mixture; extracting the first mixture with 70-90% ethanol under reflux condition to obtain a first extract solution; preparing a second mixture; extracting the second mixture with 50-70% ethanol to obtain a second extract solution; and mixing the first extract solution with the second extract solution to obtain the polygoni milletii rhizome tincture. A method of preparing a Polygoni Milletii Rhizome poultice includes: reparing a Polygoni Milletii Rhizome mixture; mixing the Polygoni Milletii Rhizome mixture and a skin penetration enhancer in water; mixing a moisturizing agent and a binder in water; adding a thickener in water; mixing methylparaben and ethylparaben in 90% ethanol; mixing all solutions to form a mixture; and applying the mixture on a non-woven fabric cloth and drying to form the Polygoni Milletii Rhizome poultice.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES FOR EXTENDED RELEASE OF THERAPEUTIC AGENTS
The disclosure pertains to implantable medical devices for controlled delivery of therapeutic agents. Some devices according to the disclosure have a titanium reservoir, and a porous titanium oxide based membrane to control the rate of release of the therapeutic agent. The reservoir contains a formulation of the active agent, including a stabilizer for the active agent, wherein the stabilizer is provided in an extended-release configuration or a sustained release carrier.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING AN AGENT TO A WOUND
The invention provides compositions featuring chitosan and methods for using such compositions for the local delivery of biologically active agents to an open fracture, complex wound or other site of infection.
