PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF NANO-FIBRILLAR CELLULOSE GELS
The present invention relates to a process for the production of naso-fibrillar cellulose gels by providing cellulose fibres and at least one filler and/or pigment; combining the cellulose fibres and the at least one filler and/or pigment; and fibrillating the cellulose fibres in the presence of the at least one filler and/or pigment until a gel is formed, as well as the nano-fibrillar cellulose gel obtained by this process and uses thereof.
REDUCTION OF LEACHABLE BETA-GLUCAN LEVELS FROM CELLULOSE-CONTAINING FILTER MATERIALS
Treatment methods for reduction of (1.fwdarw.3)-β-D-glucan leachables from cellulose-containing filter materials are described.
FINE CELLULOSE FIBER-CONTAINING SUBSTANCE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND FINE CELLULOSE FIBER DISPERSION
A fine cellulose fiber-containing substance that has excellent dispersibility in water and can be manufactured easily. A method is for manufacturing the fine cellulose fiber-containing substance, and a method is for manufacturing a fine cellulose fiber dispersion. A fine cellulose fiber-containing substance contains fine cellulose fibers into which a phosphite containing a cation of an inorganic substance is introduced. The ratio of the cation of the inorganic substance with respect to 1 g of the fine cellulose fibers is 0.14 mmol or more. In manufacturing the fine cellulose fiber-containing substance, a phosphite is introduced into cellulose fibers, and then the cellulose fibers are defibrated to obtain a dispersion containing fine cellulose fibers, during which an alkali metal ion-containing substance is added to the cellulose fibers, and the dispersion is concentrated. In manufacturing a fine cellulose fiber dispersion, the fine cellulose fiber-containing substance is mixed with water.
Reduction of leachable beta-glucan levels from cellulose-containing filter materials
Treatment methods for reduction of (1.fwdarw.3)-β-D-glucan leachables from cellulose-containing filter materials are described.

Cellulose composite materials and methods of making and using the same
The present disclosure provides a composite of (a) oxidized cellulose comprising at least one carboxyl and (b) at least one component selected from a diamine, a diol, or mixture thereof. This disclosure further relates to methods of making such composite materials and suitable uses thereof, including in fibers, fabrics, textiles, films, fillers, packaging materials, plastics, etc.
EFFICIENT METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR RECOVERY OF PRODUCTS FROM ORGANIC ACID PRETREATMENT OF PLANT MATERIALS
Provided are compositions and processes concerning efficient downstream processing of products derived from organic acids pretreatment of plant materials.
Methods for the production of high alpha-cellulose pulp
In alternative embodiments, provided herein are methods and industrial processes for generating high purity (high alpha cellulose) pulp from lignocellulosic feedstocks, comprising directly contacting a lignocellulosic feedstock with a system comprising a super critical or near-super critical fluid or mixture of fluids, whereby the partial pressure of the system provides for the alcoholysis, hydrolysis or a combination thereof of the feedstock at reduced temperatures and pressures, followed by an upgrading step wherein a low-purity cellulosic material generated in the super critical or near-super critical reaction step is treated with an alkaline solution. Also provided herein are systems and methods for producing a high purity cellulose material using reduced amounts of alkaline material.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITION COMPRISING MICROFIBRILLATED CELLULOSE
The invention discloses a method to form a composition, which method includes fibrillating fibers to form MFC in the presence of an alkali-metal silicate whereby an MFC and silicate mixture is formed The presence of alkali-metal silicate during fibrillation of fibers to MFC, reduces the viscosity and increases the water release behavior, whereby the fibrillation can be accomplished at higher concentrations and a more uniform mixture of MFC-silicate is accomplished. The composition formed by the method of the invention may e.g. be used in paper or paperboard production, in cement production or as an additive in composites.
METHOD OF PRODUCING DISSOLVING PULP
A process for producing dissolving pulp from comminuted wood-based fibrous material. The process includes the following consecutive stages: cooking comminuted fibrous material with alkaline cooking liquor in a kraft cooking process to produce pulp; treating the cooked pulp in caustic extraction at a temperature of 70-110 C. and in an effective alkali concentration of 60-120 g/l for at least 5 minutes, and washing and oxygen delignifying the caustic extracted pulp.
