Disclosed is a method for therapeutic management of hyperglycemia in mammals using compositions containing thymohydroquinone. More specifically, the invention discloses compositions containing thymohydroquinone for inhibiting the activity of the enzyme -glucosidase and increasing the cellular uptake of glucose by mammalian cells.
