20230074142 · 2023-03-09 ·

The invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion and its preparation. The dispersion comprises a styrene acrylate polymer, which is obtainable by free-radical polymerisation of 1-90 weight-% of monomer (a), which comprises at least one optionally substituted styrene; 10-99 weight-% of monomer (b), which comprises at least one alkyl (meth)acrylate, and 0-9 weight-% of monomer (c), which comprises at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer, which is different from monomer (b). The polymerisation is conducted in a polymerisation medium comprising a cationic prepolymer, which is obtainable by free radical polymerisation of at least 10-55 weight-% of a monomer (i), which comprises at least one ethylenically unsaturated quaternary and/or tertiary amine, 35-90 weight-% of a monomer (ii), which comprises at least one optionally substituted styrene, and 0-55 weight-% of a monomer (iii), which comprises at least one alkyl (meth)acrylate. The oligomer content in the polymer dispersion is ≤1.4 weight-%, calculated from the dry polymer content.

Creped single ply tissue

Provided are tissue products comprising a single ply tissue web that has been prepared by a creping process and more preferably by a print creping process adapted to dispose a non-crosslinked latex polymer on at least one of the outer surfaces of the tissue web. The creped single ply tissue products generally have a low degree of stiffness, such as a Stiffness Index less than about 8.00, and are highly durable, such as a Durability Index greater than about 12.0. In other instances, the tissue products may have very low levels of lint or dust, such as a Slough less than about 4.00 mg, even at basis weights from about 45 to about 55 grams per square meter (gsm) and tensile strengths from 600 to 1,200 g/3″.

A coating agent for paper comprises: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer has a content of ethylene units of 1 mol % or more and less than 20 mol % and a block character of the ethylene units from 0.90 to 0.99. Coated paper is obtained by coating paper with such a coating agent. The coating agent of the present invention is excellent in viscosity stability and also causes the resulting coated paper to be excellent in barrier properties and water resistance.

LOW STIFFNESS MULTI-PLY TISSUE PRODUCT

Disclosed are multi-ply tissue products, particularly creped and through-air dried tissue products, having cloth like properties, such as good drapability and durability. For example, the products generally comprise two plies and have a geometric mean slope (GM Slope) less than about 10.0 kg and a geometric mean tensile energy absorption (GM TEA) of about 15 g.Math.cm/cm.sup.2 or greater. In certain instances, the tissue products also have a low degree of stiffness, such as a Stiffness Index less than about 5.00. The tissue products may be prepared from webs manufactured by a print-crepe process that deposits a latex polymer on at least one of the outer surfaces of the tissue web.
