Method for the production of heat-sealing barrier paper
The invention relates to a method for the production of a heat-sealable paper that forms a barrier to water vapour, in particular having a water vapour permeability of at most 150 g/m.sup.2/24 h measured according to ASTM F1249 under so-called tropical conditions of 38 C. and 90% relative humidity, in which at least one coating layer comprising at least one thermoplastic film-forming polymer is applied in-line on the paper-making machine to the fibrous substrate.
Repulpable packaging material
The invention relates to a heat-sealable packaging material comprising: a paperboard substrate comprising a first side and a second side, a first coating layer on the first side, a first barrier coating layer on the first coating layer, which first barrier coating layer comprises pigments, a second coating layer on the second side, and a second barrier coating layer on the second coating layer, which second barrier coating layer comprises pigments, wherein the coating layers and the barrier coating layers comprise a latex or a water-soluble polymer, wherein the first coating layer and the second coating layer are free of pigments, wherein the first barrier coating layer and the second barrier coating layer comprise pigments in an amount in a range from >40 wt % to <70 wt %, based on the dry solid content of the respective layer, and wherein the grammage of each of the first and second coating layer and of the first and second barrier coating layer is in a range from >1 g/m2 to <10 g/m2. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing a respective packaging material and a packaging derived therefrom.
PAPER BARRIER MATERIAL
An object of the present invention is to provide a paper barrier material having excellent gas barrier property as well as excellent water vapor barrier property, comprising a water vapor barrier layer and a gas barrier layer provided on a paper base material in this order. As a means for achieving the object, a paper barrier material is provided, which comprises a water vapor barrier layer and a gas barrier layer provided on a paper base material in this order, wherein such paper barrier material is characterized in that water vapor barrier layer contains a water vapor barrier resin and a water repellent, while the gas barrier layer contains a water-soluble polymer and a surface-active agent.
Energy curable inks and coatings with peroxides
The present invention provides an improved method for curing multi-layer constructs of energy curable (EC) inks and coatings with actinic radiation. In the method, one or more layers of EC inks and/or coatings comprising materials that can crosslink or polymerize when exposed to actinic radiation, e.g., monomers, oligomers or polymers, are applied to a substrate, which EC inks and coatings contain little or no photoinitiators. This is followed by applying one or more layers of non-EC inks and/or coatings, which comprise one or more organic peroxides but no readily polymerizable components, over the top of the layers of energy curable inks and/or coatings; and exposing the layers to actinic radiation.
COATING COMPOSITIONS AND ASSOCIATED PAPERBOARD STRUCTURES
A coating composition for paperboard including a binder and a pigment blend including a low density organic pigment and a modified inorganic pigment.
Block out label, label sheet, and related method
The present invention includes a label, a label sheet and a method for manufacturing the label. The label includes a paper facestock having first and second surfaces and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive proximal to the second surface. The label can be adhered to a substrate having pre-applied indicia to cover the indicia and the label is opaque enough to prevent the viewing of the covered indicia while matching the color of the substrate.
Paper article comprising a paper component and a heat-sealable coating
The present invention refers to a paper article comprising a paper component having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side and/or the second side of the paper component is at least partially coated with a heat-sealable coating, wherein the heat-sealable coating comprises a first polymer comprising units derived from a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and a second polymer, being different from the first polymer, comprising units derived from a) a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and b) an alkene, wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 35:65, and wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in an overall amount of at least 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of the coating. Furthermore, the present invention refers to a laminate comprising a paper component, a substrate and a heat-seal layer being present between the paper component and the substrate, which is obtained by heat-sealing a paper article according to the present invention to the substrate. The invention also refers to a use of a coating for heat-sealing a paper component to a substrate.
Polymer coated paper and paperboard
The present invention relates to paper or paperboard comprising at least one coating layer formed by extrusion coating of a PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin, characterized in that the PET resin comprises at least 50% by weight of a PET copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of less than 0.7 dl/g, preferably less than 0.65 dl/g, as determined according to ISO 1628.
COATED PAPER FOR USE AS PACKAGING MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a, preferably heat-sealable, coated paper comprising a cellulose layer and a coating on at least one side of the cellulose layer, wherein the coating comprises a wax and a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyester, polysaccharide, polysaccharide ester, polysaccharide ether and polysaccharide ether ester, and a packaging comprising the coated paper, as well as a method of manufacturing a coated paper.
