METHOD FOR APPLYING STARCH TO A PAPER OR PAPERBOARD WEB
The invention relates to a method for applying starch to a paper or paperboard web, the method comprising the steps of: providing an aqueous suspension comprising starch particles and at least 1 wt %, based on the dry solid content of the suspension, of an amphiphilic polymer, creating a foam of the aqueous suspension, and applying the foam to the paper or paperboard web. The invention further relates to a paper or paper board product obtained by the method.

Method for producing single-layer or multi-layer paper
A method to produce dried single-layer or multi-layer paper is disclosed. The method comprises, for a single-layer paper, preparing and spraying a partially dehydrated first fibrous web with a spray solution or suspension to give a sprayed partially dehydrated first fibrous web, and dehydrating the sprayed partially dehydrated first fibrous web by applying heat to form a dried single-layer paper; or, for a multi-layer paper, preparing and spraying a partially dehydrated layer compound with a spray solution or suspension to form a sprayed layer compound, and dehydrating the sprayed layer compound by applying heat to form a dried multi-layer paper. The spray solution or suspension comprises water and at least one water-soluble polymer P, which is obtained by polymerizing: (i) a monomer of formula H.sub.2CCHNHC(0)R.sup.1, where R.sup.1 is H or C.sub.1-C.sub.6- alkyl; and (ii) one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers different from monomer (i).

Fiber assembly-forming method and fiber assembly-forming apparatus
A fiber assembly-forming method includes forming a web containing a plurality of fibers charged to a first polarity on a transport belt charged to a second polarity opposite to the first polarity and applying a liquid to the web formed on the transport belt from a nozzle of a liquid coater. The liquid contains a binder binding the fibers.

Process for production of film comprising microfibrillated cellulose
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a film comprising high amounts of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), having haptic properties. According to the present invention, a wet web comprising MFC is formed, followed by addition of particles having an average diameter of at least 1 μm to the wet web, followed by dewatering and/or drying. The wet web may be formed for example by wet laid or cast forming methods. The particles may be added to the wet web for example by cast coating or spraying.

A PAPERBOARD AND A METHOD OF PRODUCING A PAPERBOARD
The invention discloses a paperboard comprising a base ply, a top ply, and an intermediate layer disposed in-between the at least one base ply and the top ply. The intermediate layer comprises pigment and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC). The application of an intermediate layer comprising pigment and MFC in-between the base ply and the top ply gives rise to improved optical properties of the paperboard, even when using an uncoated top ply having a low grammage. This makes it possible to reduce the grammage of top ply and still obtain good optical properties.
