MAN-MADE CELLULOSIC FIBER AND NONWOVEN PRODUCT OR FABRIC COMPRISING THE CELLULOSIC FIBER
The present invention relates to a modified cellulosic fiber that comprises anionic moieties in an amount of more than 0.25 mol/kg of dry fiber and has applied theron a polymeric modifying agent in an amount of from 0.5 wt. % to 5.0 wt. %, based on dry fiber, the polymeric modifying agent comprising cationic moieties with a charge of at least 1.5 meq per gram of polymer and the molar ratio of anionic moieties to cationic moieties contained in the fiber is in the range of from 1:1 to 25:1. The fiber according to the present invention is characterized in that the anionic moieties are incorporated in the fiber and are from carboxymethylcellulose, and that the polymeric modifying agent comprising cationic moieties is selected from the group consisting of polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (poly-DADMAC), poly(acrylamide-co-diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PAM-DADMAC) and mixtures thereof. The invention furthermore relates to a nonwoven product or fabric comprising the modified cellulosic fiber. (FIG. 1)
ABSORBENT LAYER FOR AN ABSORBENT ARTICLE
A fluid management layer having an integrated, carded, nonwoven is described. The fluid management layer has a basis weight of between about 115 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 200 gsm; a plurality of absorbent fibers; a plurality of stiffening fibers; and a plurality of resilient fibers. The absorbent fibers make up from about 20 percent to about 60 percent by weight of the fluid management layer. The stiffening fibers have a dtex of between 4 and 10, and the resilient fibers have a dtex of between 3 and 12.
Wet wipes with a cellulosic substrate and gentle lotion
A wet wipe with a substrate having cellulosic fibers and a lotion is provided. The lotion may have between about 96.0% and about 99.5%, by weight of the lotion, of water. The lotion may have a preservative system having benzoic acid and/or a salt thereof, succinic acid and/or a salt thereof, and phytic acid and/or a salt thereof. The lotion may also have a pH buffering system and a pH of about 3.5 to about 5.
