Disclosed is a non-flammable thermal insulating composite substrate for motor vehicles including: a textile component constituted by a layer of needle-sewn non-woven fabric composed of a percentage of pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile fiber included between 40% and 70%, preferably 58% and of the remaining percentage of polyethylene glycol-terephthalate fiber, the textile component having weight preferably 400 gr/m.sup.2; and a barrier fixed to the textile component using a spreading process, constituted by a thermoplastic resin based on low density polyethylene added with non-halogen flame retardants, the barrier having weight preferably 100 gr/m.sup.2. The composite substrate has the following features: a thickness included between 2 mm and 5 mm, preferably 3.8 mm; a weight included between 300 gr/m.sup.2 and 700 gr/m.sup.2, preferably 500 gr/m.sup.2; odorless; no emission of fumes; dimensionally stable, even at heatstroke, with a maximum variation of 1%; and non-flammability.

Nonwoven materials providing for low runoff and methods of making the same are provided. Such nonwoven materials can be absorbent and include a three-dimensional pattern on one or more surfaces thereof. Such materials can be airlaid and can include multiple layers, comprised of cellulose fibers and synthetic fibers. The nonwoven material can have a percent runoff of less than about 5%.

Broke composition of matter

Broke pulp in a paper making process is obtained by pulping broke, and the broke pulp is made of fibrillated cellulose fibers and cellulose ester (CE) staple fibers having a denier per filament (DPF) of less than 3, or a cut length of less than 6 mm, or crimped, or non-round with a DPF of less than 3. The broke pulp can be added to the stock preparation zone of a wet laid manufacturing facility and fed through a refiner.

Mat having long and short inorganic fibers

The present invention provides a mat comprising a layer having a mixture of long and short fibers wherein said short fibers have a length of not more than about 13 mm and wherein said long fibers have a length of at least about 20 mm and wherein the amount of said short fibers is at least about 3% by weight based on the total weight of said mixture of long and short fibers.

A disposable absorbent article is described. The disposable absorbent article has a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. A carded staple fiber nonwoven having a basis weight of between about 50 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 100 gsm, includes a blend of absorbing fibers, stiffening fibers and filler fibers. The carded staple fiber nonwoven has a pore volume radius mode of between about 60 μm and about 120 μm.

The composite structure includes a resin binding the number of fiber layers together.

Filter media including a filtration layer comprising synthetic fibers

Filter media comprising a filtration layer comprising synthetic fibers (e.g., pleatable backer layer) and related components, systems, and methods associated herewith are provided. In some embodiments, the filtration layer comprising synthetic fibers may be a non-woven web comprising a blend of coarse and fine diameter fibers. The filtration layer comprising synthetic fibers may be designed to have desirable performance properties without compromising certain mechanical properties, such as the pleatability of the media. In some embodiments, a filter media, described herein, may comprise the filtration layer comprising synthetic fibers and an efficiency layer. Filter media, as described herein, may be particularly well-suited for applications that involve filtering air, though the media may also be used in other applications.
