A wound product and a method of manufacturing the wound product is provided. The wound product comprises a first layer comprising a plurality of splittable fibres. At least some of the plurality of splittable fibres are split longitudinally along at least part of their length, and at least some of the plurality of splittable fibres are entangled.
Nonwoven fabric for acoustic isolation applications
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric having an air permeability of 2000 l/m.sup.2/s or less when measured at a pressure difference of 200 Pa according to EN ISO 9237, the method comprising the steps of: providing at least two sets of fibers, wherein a first fiber set comprises a significant level of splittable fibers and a second fiber set comprises a low level of splittable fibers or no splittable fibers; using the first fiber set to form at least one first fibrous web in a first web formation process and using the second fiber set to form at least one second fibrous web in a second web formation process; stacking the first and second webs so obtained to provide a multilayer web including two distinct layers of fibrous webs; and bonding the multilayer web. The invention further relates to a nonwoven fabric obtainable by such process and the use of such nonwoven fabric in acoustic isolation applications.
TIME-DEPENDENT SYNTHETIC BIOLOGICAL BARRIER MATERIAL
Thermally stable absorbable fiber populations, i.e. fiber populations that do not undergo thermally induced crystallization, can be intermixed to yield a stabilizing effect without altering morphological properties of a first fiber system. By addition of a stabilizing fiber population one may minimize thermally induced shrinkage and maintain physical properties of electrospun materials in the as-formed state. In one particular abstract, medical barrier materials may be formed from the electrospun materials to provide improved medical barriers for treatments.
BITUMINOUS MEMBRANES WITH BIODEGRADABLE BINDER
Subject of the invention is a nonwoven, wherein the nonwoven fibers are organic polymer fibers, and wherein the nonwoven is consolidated with an aqueous binder, wherein the binder comprises protein and a polyphenolic compound from natural origin. Preferably, the nonwoven carrier is highly suitable for producing bituminous membranes. Subject of the invention are also uses, methods, bituminous membranes, binders and building materials, which are related to the nonwoven carrier.
Flame retardant fibers, yarns, and fabrics made therefrom
Disclosed are technical fibers and yarns made with partially aromatic polyamides and non-halogenated flame retardant additives. Fabrics made from such fibers and yarns demonstrate superior flame retardancy over traditional flame retardant nylon 6,6 fabrics. Further, the disclosed fibers and yarns, when blended with other flame retardant fibers, do not demonstrate the dangerous scaffolding effect common with flame retardant nylon 6,6 blended fabrics.
Hybrid non-woven web and an apparatus and method for forming said web
A hybrid non-woven web is disclosed which is a matrix of a stream of fibers of a first material joined to streams of first and second spun-blown fibers. Each of the first and second spun-blown fibers are formed from a thermoplastic composition that contains at least one polymer having a melt flow rate of from between about 5 grams/10 minutes to about 6,000 grams/10 minutes at 230 C. Each of the first and second spun-blown fibers also have an average diameter of between about 1 microns to 10 microns and a standard deviation of from between about 0.9 microns to about 5 microns. In addition, the hybrid non-woven web has a tensile strength of at least about 5 gf/gsm/cm width, measured in a machine direction. An apparatus and a method of forming the hybrid non-woven web are also disclosed.
Filament network for a composite structure
A filament network for a composite structure may include a number of fiber layers, wherein each fiber layer includes a fiber bundle and a filament layer at least partially covering the fiber bundle, the filament layer including discontinuous filaments including at least one of different length filaments including first length filaments and second length filaments, wherein the first length filaments include a first length and the second length filaments include a second length, and wherein the first length is different than the second length and different type filaments including first type filaments and second type filaments, wherein the first type filaments include a first material composition, wherein the second type filaments include a second material composition, and wherein the first material composition is different that the second material composition, and a resin binding the number of fiber layers together.
Nonwoven fabric web
A nonwoven fabric web having an excellent sound absorption coefficient in a frequency range from 800 Hz to 1000 Hz when used as a sound absorbing member for a vehicle exterior. The nonwoven fabric web including a nonwoven fabric having meltblown fibers and binder fibers arranged so as to be confounded with the meltblown fibers and fused with the meltblown fibers at some of the confounding points at the very least, the weight per unit area of the nonwoven fabric being from 400 g/m.sup.2 to 1500 g/m.sup.2, and the flexural rigidity of the nonwoven fabric being from 2.0 N/50 mm to 20.0 N/50 mm.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH POLYMERIC FILLER COMPOSITION
An absorbent article comprising a first nonwoven material joined to a second nonwoven material by at least one bond area, wherein a polymeric filler composition is disposed within the bond area and the composition comprises at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, propylene-ethylene copolymers, and mixtures thereof, wherein the composition is substantially free of tackifiers. It was found that such polymer filler compositions having a Toughness of at least 25 MPa, as measured according to the Extensional Test Method described herein, provide bonds with good resistance to peel creep force.
