Adhesive alloys and filter medias including such adhesive alloys

Embodiments described herein relate generally to adhesive alloys and their use in filter media, and in particular to adhesive alloys that can be melt blown onto a filter media layer, and which are thermally activated to bond the filter media layer to another filter media layer. An adhesive alloy is provided. A thermally activated adhesive has a first melting temperature. A polymer has a second melting temperature greater than the first melting temperature. A ratio of the thermally activated adhesive in the adhesive alloy is in a range of 5 wt % to 70 wt %.

Layered composite articles and methods of making same

Disclosed are layered composite articles comprising: a) a rigid backing portion comprising a rigid core having a first surface and an opposed second surface, wherein the rigid core comprises at least one densified fiber batt and wherein the at least one densified fiber batt is comprised of a first plurality of oriented fibers having a first melting point and a second plurality of oriented fibers having a second melting point different from the first melting point; and b) a decorative portion having a first surface and an opposed second surface, wherein the second surface of the decorative portion is affixed to the first surface of the rigid core. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the same.

Layered composite articles and methods of making same

Disclosed are layered composite articles comprising: a) a rigid backing portion comprising a rigid core having a first surface and an opposed second surface, wherein the rigid core comprises at least one densified fiber batt and wherein the at least one densified fiber batt is comprised of a first plurality of oriented fibers having a first melting point and a second plurality of oriented fibers having a second melting point different from the first melting point; and b) a decorative portion having a first surface and an opposed second surface, wherein the second surface of the decorative portion is affixed to the first surface of the rigid core. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the same.

In the liner, a high proportion of the staple fibers in the top layer are thin bi-component binder fibers. Further, at least 20 wt % of the staple fibers in the wadding is thick staple fibers. Furthermore, also the wadding comprises bi-component binder fibers.

In the liner, a high proportion of the staple fibers in the top layer are thin bi-component binder fibers. Further, at least 20 wt % of the staple fibers in the wadding is thick staple fibers. Furthermore, also the wadding comprises bi-component binder fibers.

The nonwoven web can be carded, hydroentangled and point bonded.

Provided is a space filling material having excellent strength in reinforcing a predetermined space to be filled with the space filling material and/or strength in fixing a material to be fixed therewith. The space filling material (11) includes reinforcing fibers and a thermoplastic resin, wherein the reinforcing fibers form a plurality of intersections at least a part of which are bonded with the thermoplastic resin, and among all of the reinforcing fibers, a proportion in volume of reinforcing fibers each having a bent ratio of 1.004 or higher is 20 vol % or more relative to a total volume of the reinforcing fibers, the bent ratio being defined as a ratio of fiber length/shortest distance between opposite ends of fiber. The space filling material (11) expands to fill a predetermined space (13) when the thermoplastic resin is softened by heating to release bending loads of the reinforcing fibers.
