Systems and methods for automated manufacturing of flexible goods and related technologies

Systems and methods for automated manufacturing of flexible goods and related technologies are disclosed. A workpiece can be processed to temporarily change its physical properties for facilitating handling and assembly operations. The system can include one or more automated handling apparatuses for transporting workpieces between workstations. Each workstation can perform a different stage of the manufacturing process. After the goods have been manufactured, the goods can be processed such that is returns to its original physical properties.

Disclosed is a malodor control system that includes use of a malodor scavenger to sequester a malodor molecule to reduce and/or eliminate the noxious odor the malodor molecule generates. Some embodiments can include use of a substrate as a non-woven fabric sheet as a delivery system for the malodor scavenger. The substrate can include a polymer complexed with active ingredient to lock the active ingredient in place at a surface of the substrate via a binder so that the active ingredient is present at a predetermined activity level. After interacting with malodor molecules, at least some of the active ingredient migrates via passive diffusion to the substrate surface to maintain the predetermined activity level. Embodiments of the substrate are made from a blend of polyester and rayon, wherein rayon is made using viscose, allowing the substrate to be biodegradable and to handle an increased load of active ingredient.

COATING COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME, AND SEPARATOR COMPRISING SAME

An embodiment of the present invention provides a coating composition comprising a composite in which a dissociated natural polymer compound is bound onto at least a portion of the surface of acrylic polymer particles.

Method for obtaining a colloidal dispersion, colloidal dispersion and use thereof

The present invention relates to an improved method for producing a colloidal nitrocellulose dispersion made compatible with a system of acrylic monomers polymerized with surfactants in a water-based system under pressure. The self-emulsifiable system of the present invention is characterized by the latex formed by the nitrocellulose suspension in an aqueous medium, with nanometric particles and homogeneity and, consequently, a greater covering and smoothing power, high adherence, high gloss, greater chemical and mechanical resistance, rapid drying, less water retention when used in paints, varnish and sealant compositions for coatings in the fields of graphic printing, such as flexography and rotogravure, lamination, nail polish, metal-mechanics, decoration, glass, leather, plastics, wood surfaces, compounds and mortars, decorative wall paints, textiles, paper coatings and car paint repairs, inter alia. Besides providing high-performance properties, the product according to this invention is environmentally friendly.

Fabric substrates

A fabric substrate is prepared from woven coated yarns. Each coated yarn has a yarn core and a coating disposed coaxially on the yarn core. This coating contains: (i) porous particles in an amount of 4-20 weight %, each porous particle comprising a continuous polymeric phase and discrete pores dispersed within the continuous polymeric phase, a mode particle size of 2-50 m; (ii) a film-forming binder material having a T.sub.g of less than or equal to 25 C., in an amount of 40-90 weight %; and (iii) an inorganic filler material having a value of less than 5 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, which inorganic filler material is present in an amount of 4-30 weight %.

Composition for making coated yarn

An aqueous composition is used to clad yarn cores to provide unique coated yarns. This aqueous composition contains: (i) porous particles present in an amount of at least 2 weight % and up to and including 10 weight %, each porous particle comprising a continuous polymeric phase and discrete pores dispersed within the continuous polymeric phase, the porous particles having a mode particle size of 2-50 m; (ii) a film-forming binder material having a T.sub.g of less than or equal to 25 C., that is present in an amount of 25-60 weight %; (iii) an inorganic filler material having a value of less than 5 on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness, in an amount of at least 2-15 weight %; and (iv) an aqueous medium in an amount of at least 35 weight % in which the film-forming binder material is soluble or dispersible.
