A tissue machine (1) has a Yankee (3) and a shoe roll (4) that forms a nip with the Yankee (3). The nip has a maximum extension from an entry point (7) to an exit point (8). A flexible belt (9) forms an outer circumference of the roll (4). A fabric (10) carries a fibrous web (W) to the nip and passes through the nip with the web. The fabric (10) reaches the circumference of the roll (4) at a first contact point (11) and wraps the roll (4) from the first contact point to the nip. A mechanical support (12) inside the belt (9) supports the belt (9) between the first contact point (11) and the nip. The fabric (10) wraps the roll (4) from the first contact point (11) by more than 80°. The invention also relates to a method of operating the machine.

A press cover or jacket includes at least a first and a second polymer layer. The first polymer layer is a radially outermost polymer layer as seen relative to the longitudinal axis of the press cover and has a thickness that is at most 60% of the overall thickness of the press cover as seen in the radial direction of the press cover. The first polymer layer includes grooves or holes which are incorporated in the radially outermost lateral surface thereof and the depth of the grooves or holes, as seen in the radial direction of the press cover, have a depth that corresponds at most to 95% of the thickness of the first polymer layer. A shoe press belt includes a polyurethane in which a reinforcement base member is embedded, the polyurethane being in one piece with the reinforcement base member. The polyurethane constituting at least an outer circumferential surface of the shoe press belt includes, as an urethane prepolymer component, an aliphatic polycarbonatediol component and an aromatic diisocyanate component, and includes, as a curing agent component, an aliphatic diol component having a carbon number of less than or equal to 6 and an aromatic diol component having two hydroxyethoxy groups. A content of the aromatic diol component with respect to the aliphatic diol component and the aromatic diol component is more than or equal to 10 mass % and less than or equal to 50 mass %. Accordingly, there is provided a shoe press belt suppressed in generation and development of a crack.
