There is provided a paper for packaging of medical devices comprising 5-25 wt. % (dry) synthetic fibres comprising polyester and 2.0-12.0 wt. % (dry) of a latex binder or 1.0-5.0 wt. % (dry) of a starch binder, wherein the length of the synthetic fibres is 8-14 mm and the thickness of the synthetic fibres is 5.5-9.0 dtex and wherein the paper has a grammage according to ISO 536:2012 of 70-110 g/m.sup.2.

The present invention relates to a surface sizing composition comprising a metal salt, wherein the metal has at least 3 valence electrons, and an aqueous polymer dispersion, wherein the aqueous polymer dispersion is an aqueous polymer dispersion (A) obtainable by free radical emulsion copolymerizing a first ethylenically unsaturated monomer blend comprising (a) 0 to 75% by weight of at least one optionally substituted styrene, (b) 15 to 100% by weight of at least one C1-C4-alkyl (meth)acrylate, and (c) 0 to 10% by weight of other ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomers, wherein the sum (a)+(b)+(c) is 100%, in the presence of a water-soluble redox system comprising a first free radical initiator for the free radical emulsion copolymerization and an aqueous prepolymer composition (B) obtainable by free radical emulsion copolymerizing in a polymerization solvent comprising C1-6-carboxylic acid and C1-6-carboxylic acid anhydride, a second ethylenically unsaturated monomer blend comprising (i) 5 to 50% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated quaternary amine selected from quaternary salt of N,N,N-tri(C1-4-alkyl)amino C1-4-alkyl(meth)acrylate with a mineral acid or an organic acid and/or quaternary salt of N,N,N-tri(C1-4-alkyl)amino C1-4-alkyl(meth)acrylamide with a mineral acid or an organic acid, (ii) 0 to 40%, preferably 0%, by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated tertiary amine selected from N,N-di(C1-4-alkyl)amino C1-4-alkyl(meth)acrylate and/or N,N-di(C1-4-alkyl)amino C1-4-alkyl(meth)acrylamide, (iii) 10 to 95% by weight of at least one optionally substituted styrene, (iv) 0 to 50% by weight of at least one C1-C4-alkyl (meth)acrylate, and (v) 0 to 10% by weight of other ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomers, wherein the sum (i)+(ii)+(iii)+(iv)+(v) is 100%, in the presence of a second free radical initiator, and adding water to the obtained polymer dispersion to obtain the aqueous prepolymer composition. An oil-resistant film may be provided by an oil-resistant base material that is excellent in the oil resistance even in not only a plane part but also a bent part of a package can be obtained and also to the provision of an oil-resistant base material having the oil-resistant film and an oil-resistant paper having the oil-resistant film. An oil-resistant film may contain a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer (A) and a polymer particle (B) containing a polymer having a glass transition temperature of 40° C. or lower, wherein the content of the polymer particle (B) is 1 part by mass or more and less than 150 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer (A); and an oil-resistant base material (oil-resistant paper) having the oil-resistant film on a base material (paper).

PAPER COMPOSITE, PACKAGING MATERIAL, AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF PAPER COMPOSITE

Provided is a paper composite superior in grease resistance, water resistance, and water vapor permeability, with an improvement of the grease resistance upon imparting grease resistance by using a greaseproofing agent having 6 or less carbon atoms. The paper composite contains: a paper substrate having an air permeation resistance of 1,000 sec or less and bulk density of from 0.5 to 1.0 g/cm.sup.3; and a greaseproof layer on at least one side thereof, the greaseproof layer containing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol polymer (A) and a cationic fluorine-containing polymer (B) having two specific constitutional units. A content of the copolymer (B) in the greaseproof layer is from 5 to 50 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polymer (A), an amount of the greaseproof layer on dry mass basis is from 0.1 to 3.0 g/m.sup.2, and a water vapor permeability of the paper composite is 1,000 g/m.sup.2.Math.24 h or greater.

The composite structure has advantages in that it can improve whiteness, opacity, ink adhesion, materials reduction, barrier properties, recyclability, and printability. The composite can reduce polymer mass requirements for heat seal, barrier, and fiber adhesion. Further improvements include economics, pliability, and flexibility that is increased over the pliability of the fiber-containing layer alone.
