Soft treated tissue product
The present invention provides multi-ply creped tissue products, and in particular embodiments creped wet-pressed tissue products, having substantially higher per-ply basis weights, such as from about 14.0 grams per square meter or greater. Despite having relatively high per-ply basis weights, the products are generally soft and flexible, such as having a softness value (measured as TS7) less than about 10.0 and a Stiffness Index less than about 20.0. While being soft and flexible, the tissue products are durable enough to withstand use, such as having a geometric mean tensile (GMT) greater than about 1,000 g/3.
Compostable paperboard structure and method for manufacturing the same
A paperboard structure including a paperboard substrate having a first major side and a second major side opposed from the first major side, and a coating layer on the first major side, the coating layer includes a polymer and talc, wherein the polymer includes at least one of poly(butylene succinate) and poly(butylene succinate-co-adipate).
Methods and compositions for enhancing sizing in papermaking process
The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for enhancing the performance of a sizing agent in a papermaking process using a sizing agent enhancer. The sizing agent can be emulsified with an emulsifier and the sizing enhancer can be a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer. The method can comprise emulsifying the sizing agent with the emulsifier; and thereafter adding the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer, separately from or contemporaneously with the emulsified sizing agent, to a fiber furnish of a papermaking process. The combination of the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer improves the sizing of product paper over the use of the sizing agent without the sizing enhancer. In at least some embodiments, the emulsified sizing agent is ASA emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer and the sizing enhancer comprises a diallylamine-acrylamide copolymer.
Treated substrates and methods of producing the same
Treated substrates and methods of forming the same are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a treated substrate includes lignocellulose and a polymer fixed to the lignocellulose to form the treated substrate. The polymer includes a succinic moiety that can reversibly change between a succinic anhydride and a succinic acid moiety. The treated substrate has a wet tensile index of about 3 newton meters per gram or less.
SURFACE SIZING AGENT FOR PAPER AND/OR CARDBOARD
Surface sizing agents for paper and/or cardboard contain lignin and lignin sulfonates and at least one further surface-finishing substance, wherein it contains 0.1 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 20% by weight of a lignosulfonate source, 0.1 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 25% by weight of lignin, in particular kraft lignin and at least one further surface-finishing substance selected from the group of hydroxylated polymers, such as starch, PVOH, natural or synthetic hydrophobic materials, such as tall oil, tall oil soap or refined products thereof or hydrophobic materials, such as synthetic or natural waxes, styrenes, butadiene, acrylates, alkyl ketene dimer and oils thereof, such as AnKD, alkenyl succinic acid anhydride and the remainder water as a solvent and/or suspending agent, as well as processes for the production and use of the surface sizing agent.
Print media for inkjet printing
A print medium having a base substrate including a blend of cellulosic fibers, a sizing material present in an effective amount from about 0 Kg/Ton of the print medium to about 1 Kg/Ton of the print medium, and a multivalent cation salt present in a synergistic amount from about 4 Kg/Ton of the print medium to about 25 Kg/Ton of the print medium.

Emulsification of Alkenyl Succinic Anhydride with an Amine-Containing Homopolymer of Copolymer
The present disclosure provides for a method of preparing and using an emulsion for treating a papermaking process. The emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion of alkenyl succinic anhydride emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer. The method comprises adding an oil-in-water emulsion to the papermaking process; wherein the oil-in-water emulsion comprises alkenyl succinic anhydride emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer; and wherein the oil-in-water emulsion is added in an amount sufficient to improve sizing of the paper produced by the papermaking process. The primary or secondary amine may be a secondary amine comprising diallylamine, and the polymer may be a diallylamine-acrylamide copolymer.
