Specialty pulp with high intrinsic viscosity
A method for making a specialty fiber by activating pulp in an alkaline aqueous medium, then reacting it a water-soluble, multi-functional reagent able to bridge neighboring cellulose chain within a single fiber. The resultant specialty cellulose fibers have high intrinsic viscosity and may be used to make cellulose ethers, cellulose acetate, and viscose.
METHOD OF PRODUCING A FILLER
The invention discloses a method of producing a filler composition to be used in paper or board production, said method comprising providing a suspension comprising calcium hydroxide and performing carbonation of the calcium hydroxide to form precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). The invention is characterized in that starch and/or carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) is added to the suspension during said carbonation of calcium hydroxide. The method of the invention enables an increased filler content in paper or paperboard without substantially increasing the dusting tendency or decreasing the strength of the paper or board.
BIOPOLYMER SIZING AGENTS
A composition and method for imparting paper and paperboard with resistance to aqueous penetrants using renewable biopolymers, and the resulting paper and paperboard, are disclosed. The renewable biopolymers when combined with water-soluble, hydroxylated polymers or water-soluble salts and applied to the surface of paper or paperboard, results in resistance to aqueous penetrants.
Method and Composition for Detackifying Organic Contaminants in the Process of Pulping and Papermaking
The present invention discloses a method for detackifying organic contaminants in the process of pulping and papermaking and a composition used for the same. Specifically, the invention discloses that the water circulation system of pulping and papermaking process can be provided with non-ionic cellulose ether and cationic coagulant in lower amount, through which, the deposition of organic contaminants can be inhibited under the synergistic action of pre-coagulation and detackification.

PLY ADHESIVE AND SANITARY TISSUE PAPER
To provide a ply adhesive that is capable of expressing a sufficient ply adhesion strength, does not harden an area where the ply adhesive is applied, and does not worsen paper texture. The problem can be solved by a ply adhesive that includes: 1-5 mass % of carboxymethylcellulose, a 1 mass % aqueous solution of the carboxymethylcellulose having a viscosity of 100 mPa.Math.s or lower, as an adhesive; and 1-5 mass % of at least one member selected from among propylene glycol, glycerol and butylene glycol as a softening agent.
Dry strength composition, its use and method for making of paper, board or the like
A dry strength composition for manufacture of paper, board or the like is disclosed. The dry strength composition includes, as a mixture, at least one anionically derivatized polysaccharide, and cationic starch having an amylopectin content ≥80 weight-%. The anionically derivatized polysaccharide and the cationic starch provide the composition with a charge density in a range of 0.1-1.5 meq/g, when measured at pH 2.8, and −0.1-−3 meq/g, preferably −0.3-−2.5 meq/g, more preferably −0.5-−2.0 meq/g, when measured as an aqueous solution, at pH 7.0. Further disclosed are a use of the composition and a method for manufacturing paper, board or the like.
Water-disintegrable sheet and method for producing water-disintegrable sheet
A water-disintegrable sheet in which a base paper sheet is impregnated with an aqueous agent is provided. The base paper sheet has a weight per unit area of 30 to 150 gsm, and includes a water-soluble binder and cellulose nanofibers. The aqueous agent includes a cross-linking agent which cross-links with a water-soluble binder.
