Absorbent sheet is manufactured utilizing a low charge density debonder composition comprising an imidazolinium surfactant-containing constituent selected from the group consisting of: (i) cationic imidazolinium surfactants with alkylalkenylhydroxy substitution; (ii) zwitterionic imidazolinium surfactants; and (iii) an ion paired surfactant mixture including a zwitterionic imidazolinium surfactant and a cationic surfactant and, in admixture with the imidazolinium surfactant-containing constituent, (iv) a nonionic surfactant.
Use of a polymer product for deposit formation control in manufacture of paper or board
The invention relates to a use of a water-soluble polymer product comprising amphoteric polyacrylamide, which has neutral or cationic net charge at pH 7, a weight-average molecular weight of 2,500,000-18,000,000 g/mol and a total ionicity of 4-28 mol-%. The polymer product is used for controlling deposit formation caused by hydrophobic substances in manufacture of paper or board, where a fibre web is formed from an aqueous suspension of fibres. The invention relates also to a method for controlling deposit formation caused by hydrophobic substances in manufacture of paper or board, where a fibre web is formed from an aqueous suspension of fibres, as well as to produced paper or board.
Method for manufacturing paper, device for manufacturing additive for manufacturing paper, and device for manufacturing paper
Provided are a method for manufacturing paper with which it is possible to easily manufacture paper wherein water-filterability and yield are excellent and hydrophilia is suppressed without using a cationic polymer or silica, a device for manufacturing an additive for manufacturing paper, and a device for manufacturing paper. The method for manufacturing paper is a method having a reactant generating step for generating a reactant by subjecting an acrylamide polymer to a Hoffman elimination reaction, and a supply step for supplying the reactant to a paper machine within 24 hours of the start of the Hoffman elimination reaction. The acrylamide polymer preferably includes an acrylamide polymer having a intrinsic viscosity of 12.5-28 dl/g and anionization of 0.3 meq/g or less.
Zwitterionic imidazolinium surfactant and use in the manufacture of absorbent paper
Zwitterionic surfactant compounds and their use in connection with absorbent paper manufacture in debonder and softener formulations. An exemplary surfactant is an imidazolinium compound of formula: ##STR00001## wherein X is SO.sub.3, R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl spacer group having a chain length of from 2-6 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is a hydrocarbyl group having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms; and R.sup.3 is an alkenylamidoalkyl moiety having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms.
AQUEOUS GLYOXALATED POLYACRYLAMIDE COMPOSITION
An aqueous composition includes water and a cationic polymeric resin having at least one reactive aldehyde group and formed from the reaction of glyoxal and a polymer. The polymer comprises at least one acrylamide repeating unit and at least one cationic repeating unit wherein a number of reactive aldehyde equivalents divided by a number of equivalents of residual glyoxal based on the total weight of the polymer is greater than about 1.2, wherein prior to reaction the polymer has greater than about 50 mole % acrylamide repeat units and from about 2 to about 30 mole % cationic repeating units, wherein greater than about 5 mole % of the acrylamide repeating units are converted to reactive aldehyde groups in the cationic polymer resin; and wherein the composition exhibits a viscosity gain of less than about 200%.
Polymer compositions and methods of use
Provided herein are liquid polymer (LP) compositions comprising an acrylamide (co)polymer, as well as methods for preparing inverted polymer solutions by inverting these LP compositions in an aqueous fluid. The resulting inverted polymer solutions can have a concentration of acrylamide (co)polymer of from about 50 to about 15,000 ppm, and a filter ratio of 1.5 or less at 15 psi using a 1.2 μm filter. Also provided are methods of using these inverted polymer solutions in dewatering, clarification, flocculation and/or thickening applications, and the like.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF FILM COMPRISING MICROFIBRILLATED CELLULOSE
A film comprising microfibrillated cellulose, nanoparticles, and a retention polymer. The nanoparticles are nanosilica nanoparticles that are anionic at neutral or alkaline pH and have at least one dimension less than 100 nm; and the retention polymer is starch. According to the present invention a high amount of nanoparticles is used as an additive, optionally together with a retention polymer.
SYNTHETIC METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF RHEOLOGICAL MODIFYING POLYMERS AND THE USE THEREOF
The invention relates to a UV-initiated RAFT-type polymerization for producing hydrophobically associative terpolymers in an aqueous solution. The terpolymers produced by this method can be used as aqueous rheological modifiers. Specifically, the invention relates to a hydrophobically associating terpolymers and a method to produce same using a light initiated iniferter. The monomers used in the present invention are selected from: a monomer having a water-soluble monoethylenically unsaturated group; a monomer having an ionic water-soluble monoethylenically unsaturated group; and a monomer having a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer capable of forming hydrophobically associative bonds in aqueous medium. The iniferter is initiated with light of wavelength between 250-400 nm. The resultant terpolymer is produced in a cost-effective, simple, and one-step process and can be used to thicken aqueous mediums with less or equal amounts of polymer than currently available.
