Blends of polymers as wet strengthening agents for paper

Resin systems and methods for making and using same are provided. The method for making a paper product can include contacting a plurality of pulp fibers with a resin system. The resin system can include a first polyamidoamine-epihalohydrin resin and a second resin that can include a second polyamidoamine-epihalohydrin resin, a urea-formaldehyde resin, or a mixture thereof to produce a paper product. The first resin and the second resin can be sequentially or simultaneously contacted with the plurality of pulp fibers. The period for sequential addition between the first resin and the second resin is about 1 second to about 1 hour.

Absorbent materials, products including absorbent materials, compositions, and methods of making absorbent materials

In various exemplary embodiments described herein, an absorbent structure (e.g., a paper material) having an applied absorbent material (e.g., an absorbent film) may be formed by treating a fiber (e.g., a cellulosic fiber) with an applied absorbent material forming system (also referred to as a film forming system), absorbent materials, compositions, methods of making absorbent materials, and the like.

POLYIMIDE FIBER SHEET

A polyimide fiber paper-manufacturing method is provided that includes a short fiber-preparing step in which shaved short fibers of a non-thermoplastic polyimide are prepared, and a provisionally-bonded paper-forming step in which the short fibers are mixed with water-soluble polymers which are a material having a decomposition temperature lower than a glass transition point of polyimide, and subjected to wet-papermaking to form provisionally-bonded paper.

Hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymer compositions and their use in papermaking applications

Disclosed herein are hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers useful as papermaking performance additives for enhancing paper softness with little or no negative effect on paper dry strength properties. The hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers are produced by incorporating hydrophobic functional property into primary amine moiety of the vinylamine-containing polymers via reactions with reactive hydrophobes. The hydrophobically modified vinylamine-containing polymers can be further used as base polymers for polymerization with a vinyl monomer by free radical initiated polymerization. The compositions of those hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers have shown improved softness, reduced coefficient friction to paper products while maintained or improved dry strength properties of the paper products.
