NOVEL WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER COMPLEXES IN THE FORM OF AN INVERSE EMULSION AND USES THEREOF
The present invention relates to a polymer complex obtained by inverse emulsion polymerization of water-soluble monomers: in the presence of a cationic water-soluble host polymer comprising amine functions.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PAPER AND CARDBOARD
This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a sheet of paper or cardboard, comprising the addition of a water-soluble polymer P with a weight-average molecular weight greater than 750,000 Dalton to a fibrous suspension. This method comprises the following successive steps: preparing an aqueous solution A containing at least one water-soluble polymer P at a concentration C of between 0.1 and 0.5% by weight, said polymer P having a factor F(C) strictly greater than 4, with F.sub.(C)=Δ600/C, Δ600 being the slope to reach 90% of the viscosity developed by aqueous solution A at 600 seconds at 25° C., obtained from the viscosity curve of aqueous solution A as a function of time, at the given concentration C, at 25° C., adding aqueous solution A to the fibrous suspension, at one or more injection points, forming a sheet of paper or cardboard.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR INCREASED WET AND DRY STRENGTH
The present disclosure generally relates to glyoxalated polyacrylamide (GPAM) products, compositions comprising GPAM products, and methods of use thereof, particularly in the paper industry. Moreover, the present disclosure generally pertains to cationic GPAM products, compositions comprising, and use thereof in papermaking applications and in products such as paper-based products, wherein the cationic GPAM products may provide increased wet and/or dry strength to the paper-based product and wherein such GPAMs optionally can be stored and transported to a papermaking site without the addition of large volumes of aqueous carriers.
Use of a polymer product for deposit formation control in manufacture of paper or board
The invention relates to a use of a water-soluble polymer product comprising amphoteric polyacrylamide, which has neutral or cationic net charge at pH 7, a weight-average molecular weight of 2,500,000-18,000,000 g/mol and a total ionicity of 4-28 mol-%. The polymer product is used for controlling deposit formation caused by hydrophobic substances in manufacture of paper or board, where a fibre web is formed from an aqueous suspension of fibres. The invention relates also to a method for controlling deposit formation caused by hydrophobic substances in manufacture of paper or board, where a fibre web is formed from an aqueous suspension of fibres, as well as to produced paper or board.
AQUEOUS GLYOXALATED POLYACRYLAMIDE COMPOSITION
An aqueous composition includes water and a cationic polymeric resin having at least one reactive aldehyde group and formed from the reaction of glyoxal and a polymer. The polymer comprises at least one acrylamide repeating unit and at least one cationic repeating unit wherein a number of reactive aldehyde equivalents divided by a number of equivalents of residual glyoxal based on the total weight of the polymer is greater than about 1.2, wherein prior to reaction the polymer has greater than about 50 mole % acrylamide repeat units and from about 2 to about 30 mole % cationic repeating units, wherein greater than about 5 mole % of the acrylamide repeating units are converted to reactive aldehyde groups in the cationic polymer resin; and wherein the composition exhibits a viscosity gain of less than about 200%.
