One-way loop mosaicking for higher transportation capacity and safety
The present disclosure provides new transportation design methods and a system that can improve road capacity, throughput, and travel safety as well as facilitate the current and future development of autonomous driving. The new methods and system basically eliminate all potential stopping, slowing down, and traditional crossing intersections in traffic. By mosaicking variously sized and shaped one-way loops in two-dimension and a myriad of ways and levels, the new design and system generally reduce possibilities of road accidents and utilization, reduce city pollution and improve energy efficiency, as well as encourage ride sharing and public transportation. The new design can always be compatible with existing streets and support progressive construction in phases at a controllable cost so it is practical in implementation.
Method, system for roadway intersection designs and computer program product
A computer program product for intersection design generation and evaluation method is provided. Intersection geometry, turning movement volume and design constraints are received from a user. All possible intersection designs are generated using iterative movement placement method provided. Intersection designs are filtered through design constraints. Total conflicting volume for each intersection designs are determined using two boundary methods provided. All intersection designs are ranked based on total conflicting volume. All possible intersection geometry, total critical volume and intersections ranks are provided to user as output.
Wireless road charging system
A system is provided for inductively charging the battery of an electric vehicle as it travels along a roadway. The system comprises a series of asphalt paving seam gaskets within which are embedded magnetic field generators. The magnetic field generator gaskets are arranged with opposite polarities exposed on either side of each of the charging lanes, so that induction wires within the vehicle transect the magnetic field lines and generate an electric current to charge the vehicle battery. Energy generated and/or distance travelled in the charging lanes can be metered and reported in order to impose user fees.
People Rivers
A multi-level, elevated system for providing urban areas with a grid of transportation and transit Right-Of-Ways for automated-driving vehicles as large as a mobility bus of an approximate twenty five foot length, and for human-driven ambulances and police vehicles with the same size limit; all vehicles having fully loaded weight limitsallowing such vehicles to move by means of vehicle elevators back and forth in connecting with existing ground level transportation and transit Right-Of-Ways, and optionally to be driven manually when on such ground level existing Right-Of-Ways. Additional levels include: a Not-a-wall architecture level, a utilities level, a parks level, a housing level, a heavy lift level, an energy roof level, and an airplane level. The underlying idea is to develop what might be called people riversgrids of infrastructure that allow people, goods, commodities and utilities, ground and train-air hybrid system, and even housing, to flow along these grids in the same way that water flows in rivers. One key design element of the present invention is Not-a-wall design and architecture. Because almost the entire infrastructure of the present invention will be elevated, people to move freely and pleasantly through urban environments that will become increasing less congested as transportation moves above ground. Because the present invention will be built and maintained almost entirely with automated means, the real economic cost of transit and housing will drop drastically, allowing basic human needs to be met economically for low-income people; however, through the judicious use of taxation, the investment value of all current infrastructure, including housing stock, will not be impaired. Because the utilities level can be integrated with existing infrastructure, over time the maintenance and expansion cost of utility service will also be greatly reduced; the ability to separate potable and waste water will also result in many cases in major environmental improvements. We also face a critical ethical issue: with our ability to automate virtually everything, is it moral or ethical to continue to build transportation and other systems, and elements of systems, that we know will kill people? A central premise of the present invention is that with today's capabilities, it is no longer ethically or morally justifiable to do this.
Flow boulevard; continuous flowing traffic on interrupted urban streets
A Flow Boulevard system of transportation for existing urban and suburban streets which optimizes vehicular capacity and flow for at grade facilities having intervening crossing streets is provided. The system may be applied to a single street right of way having two-way traffic with a median and enables packs of traffic to continuously flow in both directions concurrently. Flow Boulevards may be connected through interchanges supporting continuously flowing traffic to that connect to couplets of one-way streets to define networks of high vehicular capacity and continuous flowing traffic over large urban areas. Lane signals are provided to optimize traffic flow in each flow boulevard lane and at each interchange.
Spatial constraint based triangular mesh operations in three dimensions
A method and system provide the ability to design a (land) surface. A triangular surface mesh representative of an existing surface is obtained. The mesh includes triangles that are connected by vertices and edges. Design constraint sets are determined based design constraints. The design constraints include a maximum slope constraint for a first triangle of the two or more triangles in the triangular surface mesh. The maximum slope constraint is a maximum angle between a normal vector of the first triangle and a reference vector. Heights of the vertices of the first triangle are projected onto the design constraint sets such that the normal vector satisfies all of the design constraints. The projecting includes modifying the heights by a minimum Euclidian distance. A design of the surface represented by the triangular surface mesh is generated based on the projecting.
Method for Relieving Vaulted Expansion of Cement-Stabilized Base Layer Through Precut Seams
The present invention discloses a method for relieving vaulted expansion of a cement-stabilized base layer through precut seams. The method firstly establishes an RBFN model according to a large number of observation results of a vaulted expansion amount of the cement-stabilized base layer under different conditions (such as temperature and a stress release structure) in Xinjiang and similar regions; and on such a basis, the vaulted expansion amount of the cement-stabilized base layer to be designed is predicted. When the vaulted expansion amount is greater than a control requirement, the RBFN model is configured to design a reasonable width and a reasonable interval of the precut wide expansion seams to ensure that the vaulted expansion amount of the cement-stabilized base layer is less than a control value. Based on the design of the RBFN model, the present invention provides a corresponding construction method for the precut wide expansion seams. The present invention can predict the vaulted expansion of the cement-stabilized base layer without precut seams according to existing data.
ROADWAY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
An elevated roadway for autonomous vehicles may include a pylon extending vertically from a ground anchor and comprising a metal tube defining a central cavity and a concrete column within the central cavity. The elevated roadway further includes a bracket coupled to the pylon and comprising a mounting plate secured to the pylon and a cantilevered road support member extending from the mounting plate.
