Grate lifters for moving grating assemblies relative to supporting structures within which the grating assemblies are installed. A grate lifter may include a main body having a first end and a second end longitudinally opposite to the first end. A grate lifter may also include at least one hook member operably engaged with the main body at the first end and configured to engage one of at least one surface bar of a grating assembly and at least one cross member of the grating assembly. A grate lifter may also include at least one tab operably engaged with the main body at the second end and configured to engage at least one lock bar of the grating assembly. The at least one tab may be configured to be adjustable from an initial position to a bent position to engage the at least one lock bar of the grating assembly.

An attachment device for attachment to a pathway comprising a body having: a top surface for receiving foot traffic thereon; at least one point of flexure; and at least one arm extending from the point of flexure with the arm moveable about the point of flexure, the at least one arm configured to engage the pathway or a structural member of the pathway, wherein when engaged, the at least one arm secures the device to the pathway, wherein engagement of the at least one arm results in the device being compressively secured to the pathway in between two component members of the pathway.

The present invention relates to a ladder-like grating (10) comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending support sections (12) and a plurality of transversely extending sections (14). The transversely extending sections extend between the longitudinally extending support sections, wherein each transversely extending section comprises one flat subsection (18) and two connecting subsections (20), one at each end of the flat subsection. Each connecting subsection is a twisted rectangular strip extending transversely from one of the longitudinally extending support sections to the flat subsection of the transversely extending section. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a ladder-like grating.
