System and method for modifying and repaving paved surfaces
An ultrathin bonded asphalt surface (UBAS) system and method for resurfacing paved asphalt surfaces, particularly local, collector and residential streets in residential neighborhoods, including cul-de-sacs and roundabouts. The asphalt surface can be prepared with a milling machine. A spray paver applies emulsion bonding liquid (EBL) to the prepared asphalt surface at a predetermined shot rate. Aggregate material is discharged from the spray paver onto the EBL. The system is utilized in performing a UBAS resurfacing method according to the present invention.
ASPHALT EMULSION SURFACE TREATMENT CONTAINING STEROL
Pavement aging can be reduced by applying to an asphalt-containing pavement a topcoat layer or a surface treatment containing asphalt binder emulsion with sterols.
Polymerized oils and methods of manufacturing the same
Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, petroleum based, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.0 to about 5.0, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MOBILE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING OF ADVANCED ROADWAY SYSTEMS
The present disclosure provides various aspects for mobile and automated processing utilizing additive manufacturing. The present disclosure includes methods for adding strengthening features to a roadway surface. In some examples, the strengthening features may include fibers, nanofibers and nanotubes as examples.
Crack sealant method and composition for resistance to UV aging and weathering
An asphaltic sealant composition and method which use (a) the incorporation of one or more pigment and/or UV absorbing materials, (b) a low shear production method, and (c) the addition of an epoxidized ester of a vegetable oil or a plasticizer, effective for increasing the degree of dispersion of the pigment material in the sealant composition, to provide improve resistance to UV radiation.
AUTONOMOUS GROUND SURFACE TREATMENT SYSTEMS, VEHICLES, AND METHODS
A ground surface treatment vehicle and systems and methods using the same. In some embodiments, the vehicle may be adapted to autonomously or semi-autonomously identify and optionally treat target areas such as divots on turf surfaces. The vehicle may identify the target area via onboard or remote sensors and autonomously treat the target area by providing a treating material such as infill, seed, particulate matter, and liquids.
Coating System For Asphalt And Related Methods
A coating system and related methods for an airfield surface or a roadway is described. The coating system may include a stable cationic emulsion for application to the airfield surface or the roadway. The stable cationic emulsion may include a) an asphalt blend comprising gilsonite, wherein the gilsonite is modified to possess a positive charge, b) one or more polymers, and c) one or more surfactants not including a cationic surfactant. The coating system may also include a fine aggregate material for application to the stable cationic emulsion applied to the airfield surface or the roadway.
METHOD, STRUCTURE, AND COMPOSITION FOR FILLING WIDE CRACKS AND JOINTS IN PAVEMENT SURFACES
A method, structure, and composition for repairing wide and/or deep cracks, joints, and other gaps in pavement surfaces using one or a series of layers of a compressible aggregate of uniform size, with each layer of the compressible aggregate having a binder applied thereto which flows downwardly into and binds all or an upper portion of the compressible aggregate.
PAVEMENT REINSTATEMENT
A system for processing a pavement reinstatement, the system comprising: a weighing apparatus 502 for measuring a mass of reinstatement material; and a reinstatement apparatus 10 adapted to receive reinstatement dimension information and reinstatement material information and adapted to determine a required reinstatement material mass, whereby to provide a target air voids content of the reinstatement; optionally wherein the reinstatement apparatus is adapted to receive an indication of the mass measured by the weighing apparatus and optionally wherein the indication is a verification of the weighing apparatus having measured the required mass.
FLOOR PATCHING COMPOSITION
A floor patching composition, including: 100 parts of a dry mortar composition including: 9 to 15 parts of quick-setting cement, and 85 to 94 parts of a sole fine aggregate or a combination of two or more fine aggregates, wherein the sole fine aggregate or the combination has an average true density of 2.8 to 4.0 g/cm.sup.3 and a maximum particle size of 1.2 mm or less; 3 to 18 parts of polymer emulsion solid content having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of equal to or higher than −20° C. and equal to or less than 10° C.; and 6 to 18 parts of water.
