AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF DISCHARGE CONVEYOR OF MATERIAL TRANSFER VEHICLE DURING A PAVING OPERATION

A material transfer vehicle that is adapted to supply asphalt paving material to a paving machine on a roadway has a discharge conveyor with an input end and an output end with a discharge chute mounted thereon. A controller is operatively connected to the elevation control system and the steering control system for the discharge conveyor. The controller is adapted to communicate elevation control signals to the elevation control system for the discharge conveyor so that the elevation of the discharge conveyor may be adjusted based upon communication from the controller. The controller is also adapted to communicate steering control signals to the steering control system for the discharge conveyor so that the angular orientation of the discharge conveyor with respect to the longitudinal axis of the material transfer vehicle may be adjusted based upon communication from the controller. A paver-locating sensor is operatively connected to the controller, and is located and adapted to execute multiple non-contact sensor scan passes across the front end of the paving machine to determine the distance and orientation of the paving machine with respect to the paver-locating sensor. The paver-locating sensor is also adapted to communicate information to the controller about the distance and orientation of the paving machine with respect to the paver-locating sensor.

Hopper insert for an asphalt paving machine

A hopper insert for an asphalt paving machine. The hopper insert provides for passive mixing of asphalt material, and also provides a dual capacity loading option. Two upper baffles extend across an open upper end of the hopper insert. A grate extends between the upper baffles. Asphalt material is received on top of the grate between the upper baffles.

Method for controlling a road finishing machine with a wheel gear and road finishing machine with a wheel gear

A method is provided for controlling a road finishing machine with a material bunker for receiving paving material, a screed for compressing the paving material, a drivable rear wheel and a drivable front wheel. A rotational speed of the rear wheel of the road finishing machine is measured. Moreover, a travel speed of the road finishing machine is measured. A target driving torque of the front wheel of the road finishing machine is calculated based on the measured rotational speed of the rear wheel and the measured travel speed of the road finishing machine. Then, an actual driving torque of the front wheel is adjusted to the calculated target driving torque. The disclosure also relates to a road finishing machine.

Surfacing system and method

A system for re-surfacing a pavement surface includes a conduit configured to transfer a spreadable material and a material application and dispersal device (MADD) coupled in flow communication with the conduit. The MADD includes at least one material application mechanism (MAM) coupled in flow communication with the conduit. The system also includes a pressurization device coupled in flow communication with the conduit and the MADD. The pressurization device is configured to channel the spreadable material into the at least one MAM and to generate a positive pressure within the at least one MAM to facilitate delivering the spreadable material to the pavement surface.

An automotive building machine comprising a material bunker for accommodating therein pavement material to be laid is provided, the building machine being a road finisher or a charger. The material bunker comprises at least one lifting device, which is adapted to enter into releasable engagement with a movable tailgate of a truck supplying the material bunker with the pavement material and which is configured for displacing the movable tailgate of the truck between a first position and a second position. A method used for this purpose is also provided.

ROAD PAVER

A road paver for producing a pavement layer made of a paving material conveyable in a direction opposite to a paving direction of travel of the road paver to a transverse distributor assembly and distributable by way of the transverse distributor assembly transverse to the paving direction of travel substantially over a working width of a screed. The road paver comprises an exchangeable component configured to contact the paving material at least during operation of the road paver, an attachment unit for the attachment of the exchangeable component to a work assembly or to a chassis of the road paver, and a wear protection for the attachment unit. The wear protection comprises a sacrificial body for mounting onto the attachment unit and/or a protective body with a protective section which is formed to be ramp-shaped or curved at least in sections to guide the paving material over the attachment unit.
