PAVEMENT JOINTS AND METHODS FOR TREATING THE SAME
20190292730 · 2019-09-26 ·

A technique for protecting joints in pavement structures includes applying a hardener/densifier to one or more surfaces that define a joint in a pavement structure and, optionally, to portions of one or more surfaces that are located adjacent to the joint. One or more other compounds, such as hydrophobic materials, water-resistant materials, anti-scaling compounds, anti-wear compounds, multi-functional blended compositions and the like, may also be applied to the surfaces that define a joint and/or to portions of one or more surfaces that are adjacent to the joint. A seal may also be formed in a joint in a pavement structure. Joints that have been protected in accordance with teachings of this disclosure are also disclosed.

BRIDGE SUPPORT BRACKET PLACEMENT DEVICE
20190276996 · 2019-09-12 ·

A device for assisting to secure a bridge support bracket to a beam, the device comprising: a support frame, a hook to secure the support frame to the beam, a clamp to grasp and hold the bracket, and a pivot axle to pivotally connect the clamp to the support frame. With this device, a bridge builder can use the clamp to grasp and hold the bridge support bracket, and then pivot the clamp and support frame relative to the support frame.

Expansion joint system and expansion joint

An expansion joint sealing system for bridging and sealing a gap located between two spaced-apart structural deck members. The expansion joint sealing system includes an elastomeric seal member and a substantially rigid plate member. The elastomeric seal member is fixedly attached to an underlying structural deck member and is able to expand and contract in the longitudinal direction in relation to the traffic direction across the expansion joint. The rigid plate is not fastened to the elastomeric seal member with mechanical fasteners or other fastening means, but is slidingly engaged with the elastomeric seal member through an elongated guide member. As the rigid plate member is not fastened to the elastomeric seal member, it is able to move along a guide member in a direction that is transverse to the direction of traffic across the expansion joint.

An expansion joint design for supporting transfer loads. The system includes an elongated core and at least one longitudinal load-transfer member which are bonded together.

STRUCTURAL JOINT

The present invention relates to an expansion joint to bridge an expansion gap between two parts of concrete slabs used in floor construction, especially in the manufacture of concrete floors such as for example in industrial floors. Such expansion joints are evidently required to take up the inevitable shrinkage process of the concrete and to assure that the floor elements can expand or contract such as for example occur by temperature fluctuations and resulting in a horizontal displacement of the floor panels vis-?-vis one another.

A PERFORMANCE ALARMING METHOD FOR BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINTS BASED ON TEMPERATURE DISPLACEMENT RELATIONSHIP MODEL
20190228117 · 2019-07-25 ·

The present invention belongs to the technical field of health monitoring for civil structures, and a performance alarming method for bridge expansion joints based on temperature displacement relationship model is proposed. First, the canonically correlated temperature is proposed to maximize the correlation between bridge temperature field and expansion joint displacement; second, a temperature displacement relationship model for bridge expansion joints is established based on canonically correlated temperatures; then, a mean-value control chart is constructed to the error of temperature displacement relationship model; finally, reasonable control limits are determined for the mean-value control chart. A more accurate temperature displacement relationship model can be established based on canonically correlated temperatures, which is of important value to improve the performance alarming ability for expansion joint.
