10711421 · 2020-07-14 ·

Single-door flap gates and double-door flap gates are disclosed. A first flap gate includes a first door coupled with a first hinge, a second door coupled with a second hinge, wherein the first door and the second door together form a continuous concave surface, wherein the first hinge and the second hinge couple with a wall, and wherein, when in a closed position, the first door and the second door rest against the wall to cover an opening thereof. The opening may correspond to an end of a pipe that extends away from the first door and the second door. Further, the continuous concave surface may include a radius of curvature configured to be substantially similar to a radius of curvature of the wall, wherein the wall may be interior wall of a cylindrical structure.

HIGH WATER SPILLWAY FOR BARRAGES AND SIMILAR STRUCTURES, COMPRISING AN INTEGRATED DEVICE FOR AERATING THE DOWNSTREAM BODY OF WATER
20190390427 · 2019-12-26 ·

The present invention relates to a high water spillway (5) for barrages and similar structures, comprising a spill threshold (6), the crest of which is located at a first predetermined level (RN) lower than a second predetermined level (RM) corresponding to a maximum level or to the highest water level (PHE) for which the barrage (1) is designed, the difference between said first and second levels (RN and RM) corresponding to a maximum predetermined flow of an exceptional high water, and a fusegate (10) plugging the spillway (5), said gate (10) comprising at least one rigid and solid gate element (11), which is placed on the crest (8) and is held in place thereon by gravity, said gate element being imbalanced when the water reaches a third predetermined level (N) higher than the top of the gate element (11), but at most equal to the second predetermined level (RM). According to the invention, said spillway further comprises an aeration system that comprises at least one duct (20) capable of routing air towards the bottom of the jet discharged by the crest of said gate (11).

TREATMENT OF THICK FINE TAILINGS INCLUDING CHEMICAL IMMOBILIZATION, POLYMER FLOCCULATION AND DEWATERING

A process for the treatment of thick fine tailings that include constituents of concern (CoCs) and suspended solids is provided. The process includes subjecting the thick fine tailings to treatments including chemical immobilization of the CoCs, polymer flocculation of the suspended solids, and dewatering. The chemical immobilization can include the addition of compounds enabling the insolubilization of the CoCs. Subjecting the thick fine tailings to chemical immobilization and polymer flocculation can facilitate production of a reclamation-ready material, which can enable disposing of the material as part of a permanent aquatic storage structure (PASS).
