In a method of installing a pile in the sea bottom by means of a pile guide which has a frame and at least an upper and a lower pair of cooperating guide members, wherein the upper pair and the lower pair are located at a distance from each other in vertical direction. Each pair of guide members comprises a passive guide member and an active guide member. The passive guide members are moved to respective fixed initial guiding positions with respect to the frame and the active guide members are moved to the pile until the passive and the active guide members engage the pile, after which the pile is hold between the upper pair of guide members and between the lower pair of guide members during driving the pile into the sea bottom, during which the actual forces between the pile and the respective guide members are determined.

A double-acting hydraulic impact hammer includes a drop weight and an inner hydraulic piston. The drop weight is arranged to be driven in an upward and downward direction and the drop weight acts on a pile during its downward motion. The piston has a voided internal area defining a piston volume which is arranged to receive a piston rod and along which the piston extends and retracts axially. The piston volume is in sealed hydraulic communication with the hollow rod volume to form a first volume which changes size as the piston moves along the piston rod whereby the application of hydraulic pressure to the first volume biases the piston towards its extended position. The hammer includes a bore and a collar. The collar forms an outer piston having a working surface which when exposed to hydraulic fluid has sufficient surface area to lift the piston and the drop weight.

The post also can used as a mooring in harbors, lakes, or at sea. A system based on a double pounder pile driven mono pole, optionally extendable in length, is also described.

An apparatus and a method for attenuating water pressure pulses generated during sea piling when a percussion mechanism is used, including the stage of driving at least one pile into an earth by a percussion mechanism, while along at least a part of its axial extension, the pile is surrounded by water and at least partly by a tubular outer sleeve; and at least one gas-filled space is provided between the inner periphery of the outer sleeve and the outer periphery of the pile. The apparatus includes mechanisms for providing the gas-filled space.
