MODULAR BUOYANT NOISE-INSULATING DEVICE FOR OFFSHORE PILE DRIVING
A modular noise-insulating device for offshore pile driving, comprising interconnected noise-insulating modules movably nested in a telescopic arrangement in a storage position and constructed to move telescopically relative to each other, wherein the noise-insulating modules are substantially homogeneous or comprise a noise-insulating portion providing a buoyant force and a ballast portion providing a gravitational force, wherein in a surrounding liquid in the operating position, each noise-insulating module arranged above the bottom module provides a ratio of a total buoyant force versus a total gravitational force provided by said noise-insulating module, said ratio being in a first range of ratio between 1 and 5, the bottom module provides a second ratio of a total buoyant force of said bottom module versus a total gravitational force of said bottom module, said second ratio being below a maximum ratio of said noise-insulating modules.
Centre system
The invention relates to an assembly for centring a first elongate tubular element and a second elongate tubular element, such as an underwater pile accommodated within a noise mitigation screen, at a common central longitudinal axis along which axis both the first and second element extend, and wherein the centre system is provided with first coupling element for fixedly coupling the centre system with one of the first and second tubular elements, and second coupling element for engaging the other tubular element for centring the other tubular element at the central axis.
DEVICE FOR DAMPING AND SCATTERING HYDROSOUND IN A LIQUID
A device for damping hydrosound in liquid having a frequency range emitted from a sound-emitting body in the liquid includes: a plurality of individual gas volumes distributed in the liquid in an area of the sound-emitting body and at a distance from each other, each of the individual gas volumes being operable to reduce the hydrosound through resonant oscillations; and at least one mass body disposed in the liquid, the individual gas volumes being connected to the at least one mass body so as to prevent the individual gas volumes from rising up in the liquid.
Pile-driver assembly and method of using it
A pile-driver assembly for driving a pile into the ground is disclosed. The assembly includes a casing defining a chamber configured to house a fluid; a positioning element configured to position the casing at or on the pile; and actuating means. Actuation of the actuating means displaces the chamber relative to the positioning element such that the chamber moves away from the pile to an elevated position. The actuating means is configured to release the chamber from the elevated position for displacement towards the pile such that a force is exerted by the chamber on the positioning member, to controllably drive the pile into the ground. The assembly further includes buffering means, the buffering means being configured to controllably buffer the force exerted by the chamber on the pile as the pile is driven into the ground. The buffering means is configured to rebound the chamber to a rebound position. Further actuation of the actuating means displaces the chamber relative to the positioning element, such that the chamber moves from the rebound position to the elevated position. A control system for controlling the pile-driver assembly and a method of driving a pile into ground using the pile-driver assembly are also disclosed.
DEVICE FOR ATTENUATING UNDERWATER SOUND PRESSURE AND THE USE OF SUCH A DEVICE
A device for reducing underwater sound energy and propagation, whereby the device includes at least one bubble generation unit and an air conduit for supplying pressurized air to the bubble generation unit, whereby the bubble generation unit has a fluidic oscillator for generating one or more pulsating air flows from a constant air flow, and whereby preferably the fluidic oscillator has an adjustable oscillation frequency, and a method for using such a device for reducing underwater sound propagation, whereby the air conduit and the bubble generation unit are placed underwater, whereby pressurized air is supplied to the air conduit and whereby air bubbles are generated by the bubble generation unit.
Pile-Driver Assembly and Method for Driving a Pile Into the Ground
A pile-driver assembly for driving a pile into the ground, preferably offshore, and a method of driving a pile into the ground using the pile-driver assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a casing defining a chamber, the chamber being configured to house a fluid. The assembly further includes a positioning element configured to position the casing at or on the pile, wherein at least a portion of the positioning element is positioned between the chamber and the pile. The assembly further includes actuating means, wherein actuation of the actuating means displaces the chamber relative to the positioning element, such that the chamber moves away from the pile, and wherein the actuating means is configured to release the chamber for displacement towards the pile such that a force is exerted by the chamber on the positioning member, to controllably drive the pile into the ground.
