METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR IN SITU TEMPORARY CONTAINMENT OF SHALLOW CONTAMINATED SOILS
A method for installing an in situ, low-permeability temporary horizontal barrier at depth for vertical containment of a soil mass including installing a low permeability vertical barrier having walls located to contain a predetermined soil volume, the vertical barrier having a horizontal surface area in a plane perpendicular to its walls; and injecting low permeability reagents capable of forming a temporary horizontal barrier in a pattern suitable for creating a horizontal subsurface barrier joined to all of the vertical barrier walls to form an in situ barrier.
FOOTING PLATES
A footing plate (10) including a planar web (12) through or from which a plurality of tubes (14) pass, the tubes (14) being adjacent to the edges of the planar web (12) and being disposed at angles to the planar web (12), none of the angles being 90, the tubes (14) being sized to permit the passage therethrough of pins (18) for fixing into underlying ground, the upper face of the planar web (12) optionally being provided with a plurality of holes to accept bolts for retaining means to receiving a post, pole or upright structural beam, the planar web (12) also being provided with a downwardly extending flange (16) from at least one of the edges of the planar web (12).
Liquid Containment System that Accommodates Vehicle Ingress and Egress
A system for assisting in preventing the leakage of liquid from an outdoor work-site and allowing vehicle ingress onto and egress off of the work-site includes a plurality of berm members configured to be positioned at least partially around the perimeter of a support surface and extend upwardly relative thereto. At least one berm member includes a ramp portion having upwardly angled faces disposed at least partially along the front and rear edges of the berm member to allow vehicles to move up, over and down the ramp portion when entering and leaving the support surface.
METHODS OF MANUFACTURING LOAD-SUPPORTING MATS FOR USE WITH ACTIVELY CONNECTED GAP SEALS
Method of manufacturing mats for use with a plurality of top side seal members in a load-supporting surface includes at least one milling machine, router or thermoplastic mold forming at least one channel in the upper surface of each mat proximate to the outer edge of at least a first side thereof and configured to engage at least one dart of at least one of the seal members and a recess in each mat's upper surface around each respective channel and configured to seat at least part of one leg of at least one of the seal members.
REINFORCED WALL SYSTEM
A reinforced wall system comprising fill material, a plurality of facing baskets, a plurality of reinforcing members at least partially disposed within the fill material, and an impermeable membrane at least partially encapsulating at least a portion of the fill material and one or more of the reinforcing members. Each of the plurality of reinforcing members is associated with a corresponding facing basket. An outer end of each reinforcing member is above a substantially horizontal portion of the corresponding facing basket. The facing baskets and the reinforcing members are positioned in a plurality of layers, with each layer comprising one facing basket and one corresponding reinforcing member. The impermeable membrane is positioned to span two or more layers of the plurality of layers. At one or more layers of the plurality of layers, a portion of the impermeable membrane is positioned around an outer end of the corresponding reinforcing member.
Methods of manufacturing load-supporting mats for use with interfacing gap seal members
Methods of manufacturing a plurality of mats useful with a plurality of frame style seal members in a load-supporting surface include at least one milling machine, router or pre-formed mold forming at least first and second elongated grooves in first and second offset outer edges of at least a first side of each among at least first and second stepped-configuration, reversible mats. Each groove causes the seal member(s) seated therein to extend into a gap formed between the mats, abut at least one seal member extending from another mat into the same gap and form a liquid-tight seal therewith.
Landfill and berm combination
A berm to increase capacity of an existing landfill comprises a reinforced portion and backfill material. The landfill comprises a waste-receiving recess having a surface and an outer perimeter, an edge surface peripherally adjacent at least a portion of the outer perimeter, and an existing accumulation of waste within the recess having a collective top surface. The reinforced portion has opposing inner and outer surfaces and comprises structural fill material and a plurality of reinforcing members disposed therein. The backfill material has an inner surface adjacent the inner surface of the reinforced portion. The inner surface of the reinforced portion and the adjacent inner surface of the backfill material are substantially non-planar. The backfill material is at least partially encapsulated by an impermeable membrane. At least a portion of the berm sits on at least a portion of the edge surface of the landfill.
System and method for strengthening a sloped structure such as a berm, basin, levee, embankment, or the like
Embodiments of the invention comprise a system for strengthening a sloped structure such as a berm, basin, levee, or embankment. The comprises first and second opposing sides, the second side being adjacent the sloped structure; a bottom side adjoining bottom edges of the first and second sides, thereby forming a cavity within the first, second, and bottom sides; fill material disposed within the cavity; an impermeable membrane encapsulating at least a portion of the fill material; and a plurality of reinforcing members disposed within the fill material.
Load-supporting surface with actively connected gap seals and related apparatus and methods
Apparatus for forming a liquid-tight seal across gaps formed between adjacent components of a load-supporting surface useful at an outdoor worksite includes a liquid-impermeable, elongated, seal member configured to be sealing coupled to first and second mats in the load-supporting surface and extend across the gap formed therebetween.
DRAINAGE LINER WITH INTEGRAL DRAINAGE FEATURE AND GEOMEMBRANES INCLUDING SAME
Drainage liners and geomembranes including the drainage liners are disclosed herein. The drainage liners have a woven scrim made of warp tapes and weft tapes, and have a plurality of high-denier strands each superimposed upon a warp tape or each superimposed upon a weft tape and each interwoven into the woven scrim by oppositely oriented tapes. The warp tapes or the weft tapes with superimposed high-denier strands thereon are spaced apart within the woven scrim by at least one tape of a same orientation, thereby defining a plurality of parallel channels for fluid flow between nearest neighboring high-denier strands.
