An erosion control system is disclosed for preventing erosion of embankments including a three-dimensional material, the three-dimensional material including void volumes, and a mixture including a particulate material and a binder material included in the void volumes, wherein the binder material includes an organic binder material derived from living matter.
SHEAR KEY FORMER APPARATUS AND METHOD(S)
Provided are apparatus and method(s) for forming one or more shear key(s) between embedded concrete retaining wall(s) and concrete floor slab(s), kits for forming such shear key(s) and underground structures such as embedded concrete wall(s) and slab(s) comprising a shear key. In particular, the invention relates to a shear key former apparatus comprising: a box having an enclosable, internal volume, the box comprising a base and at least one, and preferably four, side wall(s), the side wall(s) terminating in a rim; rearwardly of the rim in two opposing portions of the side wall(s), at least one pair of opposing apertures, each pair of apertures defining an entrance and exit in each respective side wall portion for a rigid member to be accommodated extending across the internal volume between the entrance and the exit; a closure panel configured to be received into the rim to enclose the internal volume.
PASSIVE TAILINGS COMPACTOR
The Passive Tailings Compactor is a system of components for facilitating the continuous passive drainage and consolidation of fine-grained sediments in active and continuous deposition environments. The invention consists of a flotation device, an anchor mass, and a drainage conduit which acts as a tether between the flotation device and the anchor. The flotation device also serves to orient the drainage conduit horizontally. As water or sediment levels rise, the flotation device rotates, releasing drainage conduit wrapped around its axis. This allows the flotation device to move upwards, extending the drainage conduit passively. The flotation device uses asymmetrical fixed weights to resist lesser rotational forces. The drainage conduit serves to create a path of relatively high hydraulic conductivity, protected by a filter barrier, for the dissipation of pore pressures and consolidation of buried sediments. The anchor mass fixes the system in place.
Blindside waterproofed building foundation system and method of forming same
A blindside waterproofed building foundation system and method of forming the same are provided. The system includes a lagging wall, a monolithic waterproof layer adjacent to the lagging wall, and a foundation layer adjacent to the monolithic waterproof layer. The system and method provide a monolithic waterproofing layer that can remain adhered to a foundation surface even if the materials used to construct the lagging wall deteriorates, decomposes, or moves over time.
Modular grid foundation
Method of building a grid system wherein a plurality of modular apparatuses can be arranged at a structure site. The plurality modular apparatuses can have a central tubular member having an inner bore formed between a proximal end and a distal end, and a plurality of vanes having a lateral width at least equal to a diameter of the central tubular member. The one or more modular apparatuses can be positioned above a surface of the structure site. Each of the plurality modular apparatuses can be connected with at least two adjacent modular apparatuses of the plurality of modular apparatuses via a locking lug on one of the plurality of vanes slidingly engaged with a locking channel on an adjacent modular apparatus. The plurality of modular apparatuses can then be driven into the structure site wherein the inner bore receives earthen formation therein.
OFFSHORE STRUCTURE
An offshore structure having a foundation structure, wherein the foundation structure has at least a first and a second profile, the first profile is designed as a pile and the second profile is designed as a pile sleeve, the second profile encloses the first profile over a penetration length, wherein an interspace is formed between the first and the second profile, the interspace has a casting compound filling over the total penetration length, shear elements are provided on the first and/or the second profile, the shear elements extend into the interspace and effect an axial load dissipation into the casting compound filling, the shear elements are provided only over a first partial length of the penetration length, the first partial length is between 65 and 90% of the total penetration length and a second partial length is free of shear elements, wherein the second partial length forms the upper length of the penetration length in the installed position.
Fiber block system
A fiber block system suitable for check dam applications is described that comprises a central section flanked by two shorter wing sections. Each section comprises a fiber block enclosed in a sleeve of mesh. The fiber block, mesh, and ties can be made of coir fibers.
EROSION CONTROL APPARATUS
The present invention relates to an erosion control apparatus and methods of using and installing the apparatus. The apparatus is constructed to prevent erosion of soil during typical weather or tidal conditions and adverse weather events. The apparatus can include a plurality of anchored rolls and soil lifts operative to stabilize the shoreline.
EXPANDED MULTILAYER INTEGRAL GEOGRIDS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
An expanded multilayer integral geogrid includes a plurality of oriented strands interconnected by partially oriented junctions having an array of openings therein that is produced from a coextruded or laminated multilayer polymer starting sheet. The integral geogrid has a multilayer construction, with at least one inner layer thereof having a structure that is expanded relative to at least one other layer of the multiple layers. By virtue of the expanded inner layer structure, the expanded multilayer integral geogrid provides for increased layer compressibility under load, resulting in enhanced material properties that provide performance benefits to use of the expanded multilayer integral geogrid in soil geosynthetic reinforcement, and economic benefits compared to a like integral geogrid without an expanded inner layer structure.
