20250075458 · 2025-03-06 ·

Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of sediment/erosion/perimeter control devices and methods of making and using the same. In exemplary embodiments, a system comprises a convertible silt fence/scour pad and a wattle. The wattle is integrated with the convertible silt fence/scour pad such that the convertible silt fence/scour pad and the wattle are an integrated, singular, or unitary product. The convertible silt fence/scour pad is deployable in at least a first orientation and a second orientation. In the first orientation, the convertible silt fence/scour pad is generally vertical and/or generally perpendicular relative to the ground or other surface supporting the wattle, whereby the convertible silt fence/scour pad is operable primarily as a silt fence. In the second orientation, the convertible silt fence/scour pad is generally horizontal and/or generally parallel relative to the ground or other surface supporting the wattle, whereby the convertible silt fence/scour pad is operable primarily as a scour pad.

GELATIN SOLUTION

A method of preventing soil erosion in, among areas, seaside locations, includes drilling holes in the ground and filling the holes with a mixture of the soil and gelatin, and then curing the mixture in situ to form a barrier against soil erosion.

Method of manufacturing erosion and sediment and pollution control products using rice hulls

A method of manufacturing an erosion, sediment and pollution control product comprises heat treating a rice hull filler material for sterilizing the rice hull filler material and increasing the pollutant affinity of the rice hull filler material; filling a tubular containment member with the rice hull filler material in a manner allowing fluid to flow through the containment member and the rice hull filler material. The containment member is a geotextile which may include cellulose based threads treated to be hydrophobic.

Tubular knitted geotextiles implementing hydrophobic cellulose based threads, methods of making the same, and erosion sediment and pollution control products made from the same

An erosion, sediment and pollution control product comprises a geotextile which includes cellulose based threads treated to be hydrophobic and cellulose based filler within the tubular geotextile. The geotextile may be knitted and may include lyocell threads and wherein the lyocell threads are treated to be hydrophobic, and are treated with food grade mineral oil. A method of making a tubular knitted geotextile comprises the steps of: supplying cellulose based threads to a circular knitting machine and knitting a tubular substrate, treating the cellulose based threads with one of mineral oil, beeswax, paraffin, petroleum jelly, lanolin, plant-based oils, and combinations thereof, whereby the threads are rendered hydrophobic.
