Device for containing granular elements
Disclosed is a device for containing granular elements, comprising a metal mesh panel having metal wires welded together, the panel comprising at least one curvature of a first orientation and at least one curvature of a second orientation, the first orientation being characterized by a first axis and the second orientation being characterized by a second axis, the first axis and the second axis being non-collinear.
Ecological revetment for regulating wandering rivers
The invention belongs to ecological revetments in the technical field of river ecology, which particularly involves an ecological revetment to regulate wandering rivers. The ecological revetment is composed of porous concrete-piles, ecological connecting-plates, an ecological viewing-corridor and a slope green-belt. The ecological landscape-corridor and anchor rod are placed on the upper and middle parts of the pile structure, respectively. In virtue of the innovative structure, the ecological revetment will strengthen the revetment structure, reduce the revetment settlement, prevent the revetment from moving, and enhance the overall stability of the revetment project. The ecological holes exist on the ecological connecting-plates, which is beneficial to the exchange of material and energy from the river course and the bank slope, and the holes could greatly enhance the self-cleaning capacity of the water body. Not only do the plants on the ecological viewing-corridor provide the habitats for the organisms, but also green the revetment.
SOIL-LIKE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF MAKING A BARRIER FOR CONTAINING WASTE
The invention relates to a low-permeability geotechnical barrier material including a blend of approximately equal parts of: aggregate particles, sand-size particles and manufactured composite particles that include a hydratable sealant material composed of naturally-occurring clay minerals and/or polymer-enhanced clay minerals, such that the actual percentage of clay mineral component is less than 10% by weight in the blended material. In a particular embodiment, the construction of a low-permeability geotechnical barrier using predominantly coarse grain materials by conventional compaction efforts is rarely attempted due to the difficulty of maintaining a uniform mix of well-graded sand and aggregate blends necessary to achieve low permeability. The regularly achievable permeability offered by this material blend when installed with specific proscribed techniques using conventional equipment can be 510.sup.8 cm/sec or lower.
Combined counterfort retaining wall and mechanically stabilized earth wall
A wall system includes a counterfort retaining wall forming at least one tier of the wall system, the counterfort retaining wall including counterfort beams and wall panels. The wall system further includes a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall, the MSE wall positioned above the counterfort retaining wall. A bottom layer of the MSE wall is positioned above the counterfort beams of the counterfort retaining wall. The wall system further includes a plurality of fascia panels spaced horizontally from a face of the MSE wall and the wall panels of the counterfort retaining wall.
Method for reinforcing soft ground by post-grouting combined with air-boosted vacuum preloading
A method for reinforcing soft ground by post-grouting combined with pressurized vacuum preloading is proposed, by pre-burying prefabricated vertical drains and air-boosted pipes in granular material piles, and the air-boosted pipes are used as grouting pipes to reduce the number of times of piling, which not only improves the construction efficiency, but also reduces the structural disturbance of the soil and the influence of smear effect, thus reducing the impact on the radial permeability and the radial consolidation coefficients. The method does not use geotextile bags for granular materials, which can avoid the problem of forming a localized clogging area around the geotextile bags, and the method not only improves the efficiency of vacuum transfer in a pre-consolidation stage, but also improves the grouting effect in the later stage, effectively enhances the strength of soft soil and makes granular material piles and the surrounding soil form composite ground.
Textile dispensing apparatus and method of use
A method and apparatus for efficiently laying geotextile or like material on a preferably prepared target surface. The apparatus includes a tractor or like machine mountable dispensing device mounted to a tractor or like construction machine and having at least one roll of geotextile or like material rollingly and dispensingly mounted to the device. The apparatus is used in rolling out and laying down geotextile or like material on a target surface as the tractor or like machine drives/rolls/moves along or in near proximity to the target surface.
WEDGE-WELDABLE MANUFACTURED COMPOSITE HAVING SYNTHETIC VEGETATION AND IMPERMEABLE GEOMEMBRANE
A manufactured composite comprising synthetic turf and impermeable geomembrane is used in a single-layer capping system as the single layer to provide permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site. During installation of composite pieces at a job site, an edge portion of a tufted section of a second composite piece is overlaid onto an edge untufted section of the first composite piece already laid and anchored over foundation soil to form a reinforced overlapping seam, through which the two composite pieces are physically and permanently joined together. As composite pieces are joined together, the continuity of synthetic grass and the continuity of impermeability are extended and realized over the entire site to form permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site.
Textile Dispensing Apparatus and Method of Use
The present invention is a method and apparatus for efficiently laying geotextile or like material on a preferably prepared target surface. The apparatus preferably defines a tractor or like machine mountable dispensing device mounted to a tractor or like construction machine and having at least one roll of geotextile or like material rollingly and dispensingly mounted to the device. The apparatus is used in rolling out and laying down geotextile or like material on a target surface as the tractor or like machine drives/rolls/moves along or in near proximity to the target surface.
