Method and apparatus for excavating a soil containing mass
12123165 · 2024-10-22 ·

A method and apparatus for digging and removing excavated material from a selected site provides a mobile device having a chassis that is movable or self-propelled. The mobile device has an elongated, preferably articulated boom with a free end portion having a digging implement that can include a digging tool, excavating tool or jetting tool. The boom preferably comprises at least three sections. The boom sections are foldable to a storage position on the chassis wherein one boom section stacks upon or is aligned with another boom section. The vacuum line is supported upon the boom wherein the vacuum line extends between the free end portion of the boom and the chassis. The boom attaches to the chassis at a base that can include a rotary or pivotal connection. The vacuum line supported by the boom extends along the boom and above the earth's surface. A selected material is excavated with the excavating implement (e.g., jetting tool or digging tool). The excavated material is vacuumed with the vacuum line into a collection vessel or tank that can be a part of a wheeled vehicle thus enabling transport to a disposal site. A separate vacuum truck can provide a vacuum to a selected collection tank.

Vacuum-excavation apparatus

The present disclosure describes a vacuum-excavation apparatus that is connectible to a vehicle. The vacuum-excavation apparatus comprises a vacuum tube with an input end; a vacuum assembly for generating a suction force at the input end and drawing a stream of fluidized debris-material into the vacuum tube. The apparatus also includes a boom assembly for supporting the vacuum tube and a tank for receiving the stream of fluidized debris-material from the vacuum tube. The tank provides a boom mount for pivotally connecting the boom assembly and for providing fluid communication between the vacuum tube and the tank. The apparatus also includes an evacuation tube for providing fluid communication between the tank and the vacuum assembly and for distributing at least a portion of stress-loads that are generated by the boom assembly.

Novel tools and techniques for new cable provisioning utilizing an applied physical process are provided. A system includes a physical process applicator and a first coupler. The first coupler may be configured to attach to a first end of a first cable. The physical process applicator may be configured to apply a physical process to the first cable, and tension the first cable, via the first coupler. The first coupler may further be configured to cause, via the physical process, the first cable to displace at least some ground material surrounding the first cable, and allow at least part of the first cable to be removed.

Buried pipeline repair system

A damaged portion of a pipeline buried in a trench is gradually lifted from the trench to expose the damaged portion above water and provide easy access to the damaged portion. Inflatable roller bags are placed under the pipeline adjacent the damaged portion; the roller bags are then inflated in a controlled manner using a computer-based control unit. A control manifold is connected to the control unit and each of the roller bags by a separate air conduit allowing controlled bag-inflation and bag-deflation process for each roller bag. Once the pipeline is repaired, the roller bags are deflated, lowering the pipeline back to its original position in the trench.
