WAY OUT VALVE FOR URINALS WITH DOUBLE LITTLE BALL
20190136495 · 2019-05-09 · ·

A way out valve for urinal with double little ball, characterized by being formed by two chambers, one lower and one upper, with small balls that move to let the liquids deposited in the urinal pass or seal and prevent the exit of gases of drainage; the upper chamber has truncated cone base that, when it has liquid, floats the ball that is in this chamber and allows the liquids to pass to the lower chamber; the lower chamber has an inclined roof that allows, on its upper face, to slide the liquids up to the vertical passage that transports the liquids to the lower chamber, passing them through the lower orifice; the lower chamber has a central perforation in its inclined floor where the liquids of this chamber pass to the liquid conduit towards the drainage.

Hybrid trap with water injection

A hybrid flushing system for water free urinals is presented with a housing having a wall portion forming a cavity for receiving a cartridge. The housing also includes a flushing fluid inlet portion for receiving a flushing fluid and a flushing fluid directing portion configured to direct the flushing fluid. A cartridge for installation into a housing is presented, including a cartridge wall, a flushing fluid receiving portion and a flushing fluid directing portion to direct flushing fluid received to any portion to clean areas of the housing, the cartridge, and connected plumbing. Steps for cleaning a hybrid flushing system are presented with an act of directing a flushing fluid into an area, where the area is one of a cartridge for a hybrid flushing system, a housing for a hybrid flushing system, and a plumbing system connected with the hybrid flushing system.

RESILIENT FLUID CONTROL VALVE WITH DRIP EDGE
20190112800 · 2019-04-18 ·

Described is a fluid control valve for use in a urinal having a drip edge to direct fluid flow. The fluid control valve includes an outer sealing body wall surrounding a sealing area and a flexible membrane positioned within the sealing area. The flexible membrane creates a seal with the outer sealing body wall within the sealing area. The drip edge of the fluid control valve may be formed in the flexible membrane or the outer sealing body wall to direct fluid away from the fluid control valve to prevent formation of solids build-up. Additionally, the drip edge can direct fluid towards a flushing sensor to initiate a urinal flushing operation.

URINE STOWAGE SYSTEM FOR SPACECRAFT

A waste handling system includes a urinal having a urinal outlet and first and second urine storage containers. Each of the first and second urine storage containers includes a cavity having a bag. A distribution system fluidly interconnects the urinal to the first and second urine storage containers. The distribution system includes a switching system selectively fluidly connecting the urinal outlet to at least one of the first and second urinal storage containers in response to an input. The switching system includes a flow diverter valve. The input corresponds to a command signal to the flow diverter valve. The command signal commands the flow diverter valve between first and second positions. The first position corresponds to a fluid connection between the first urine storage container and the urinal while blocking a fluid connection between the second urine storage container and the urinal. The second position corresponds to a fluid connection between the second urine storage container and the urinal while blocking a fluid connection between the first urine storage container and the urinal. The switching system includes a plurality of switches configured to provide the command signal. A switch is arranged in each of the first and second urine storage containers. Each switch includes first and second contact elements biased apart from one another in a first condition corresponding to a first volume and electrically engages one another in a second condition corresponding to the second volume. A water processing unit is configured to produce potable water. The bag is configured to be coupled to the water processing unit by the quick disconnect to generate potable water from the urine.

WATERLESS URINAL AND METHOD THEREFOR
20190078308 · 2019-03-14 ·

A waterless urinal for a vehicle, the urinal including a fluid bowl having a drain, and a waterless urinal cartridge disposed within the drain. The cartridge includes a housing having a waste reservoir disposed within the housing that holds a predetermined volume of urine, and a drainage aperture configured so that an amount of urine exceeding the predetermined volume of urine flows through the drainage aperture to exit the housing. A cover is coupled to the housing and forms part of a surface contour of the bowl, the cover includes a sealing fluid reservoir and fluid passages for directing urine from the bowl to the sealing fluid reservoir. The sealing fluid reservoir is in conmmnication with an internal cavity of the housing, the waste reservoir includes at least one fluid flow control feature configured to restrain urine movement within the waste reservoir in response to a change in vehicle dynamics.

Visual indicator

A visual indicator for denoting a fluid level in a throat portion of a waterless urinal cartridge is presented. The visual indicator comprises a fluid level indicator disposed in the throat portion of the cartridge. As material buildup occurs inside the cartridge, a corresponding rise in the fluid level in the throat of the cartridge may be seen relative to the indicator, indicating when the cartridge will need replacement. The visual indicator may comprise markings that indicate the level of fluid within the throat portion, reactive materials, or an electronic reader. The fluid level indicator may also be made visible by ultraviolet radiation.

Splash-reducing and velocity-increasing cartridge exit

A fluid exit portion for a splash-reducing urinal cartridge is presented. The exit portion comprises a splash reducer for causing fluid to exit the cartridge in a splash-reduced manner. The splash reducer is generally in the form of a spout with a tapered exit area for accelerating and directing the fluid. The spout may comprise converting fins to urge fluid to collect in a progressively narrower channel. When the cartridge is installed into a housing, the splash reducer ensures that fluid exiting the cartridge transitions into the housing with minimal disturbance, substantially parallel to the housing. The splash reducer is formed of a flexible material or is hinged with respect to the cartridge body to allow for easy insertion into a housing.

LIQUIDS AND VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL REPELLENT AND ANTI-BIOFOULING COATINGS

A coated smooth surface of a substrate repels liquids and viscoelastic materials and can have anti-staining and anti-biofouling properties. The smooth surface can be coated by applying a chemical layer on the surface and a lubricant. Such coated surfaces are useful for use in toilets, urinals, or other devices for the processing of liquids and viscoelastic materials such as solid or semi-solid metabolic waste of human digestive system. Such coated surfaces can also be applied to windows for buildings or vehicles such as automobiles or camera lenses to repel liquids (e.g., rain), ice, frost, insect residues, and birds' feces.

Urine stowage system for spacecraft

A waste handling system includes a urinal and first and second urine storage containers. A distribution system fluidly interconnects the urinal to the first and second urine storage containers. The distribution system includes a switching system that selectively fluidly connects the urinal outlet to at least one of the first and second urinal storage containers in response to an input.
