SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WALL SUPPORT OF CEILING SUSPENSION GRID

A wall support for a ceiling support grid with grid members is disclosed. Each grid member can have a top with a bulb, a web extending downward from the bulb, and a bottom with a flange extending from the web opposite the bulb. Examples of the wall support may include a bracket having a C-shaped channel with a back, a lower flange at a lower end of the back, and an upper flange at an upper end of the back. In addition, the bracket may include only one tab in the lower flange for each grid member. The only one tab may be configured to engage and retain the flange of a respective grid member. The grid member may rest on the lower flange. The lower flange may have no other features for positive engagement with and retention of the flange of the respective grid member.

A lighted tile for false panel, including a frame having a bottom and sides that extend projecting from the bottom, a backlighting system having a series of lights attached to the bottom, and a stretched flexible sheet that extends between the sides facing the lights. The lights are light-emitting diodes, and the sheet is secured to the sides of the frame.

TRANSLUCENT CEILING OR WALL PANEL

A ceiling panel according to the present invention has opposed translucent membranes secured in a tensioned state across a perimeter frame. The frame includes frame members that are designed to oppose inward bowing of the perimeter frame caused by the tensioned membranes. The frame members have a side profile shaped to conceal a grid support network with the lower translucent member extending across and about a lower edge of the perimeter frame. The invention also includes a modified structure for supporting of translucent panels below a grid network.

This invention relates to a suspended ceiling, comprising a metal grid structure and a plurality of drop-in ceiling panels supported by the metal grid structure. Each of the ceiling panels includes a thermal conductive metal substrate, a heat insulating coating formed on the top surface of the metal substrate, and a thermal conductive ceramic coating formed on the bottom surface of the metal substrate. The heat insulating coating is provided to prevent heat generated in a plenum space between the dropped ceiling and a actual ceiling from traveling down to the room below the dropped ceiling. And, the thermal conductive ceramic coating is provided to enhance a heat transfer capability of the metal substrate. As such, the ceiling panels can facilitate rapid cooling of an air-conditioned room.

A ceiling system comprises a pair of spaced overhead longitudinal grid support members and a light-weight ceiling panel suspended therefrom. The panel may be an acoustical honeycomb panel in one embodiment. Localized elongated reinforced areas or sections are formed on the top facing which support a plurality of hangers mounted on each section. The reinforced sections coincide in arrangement with the layout of the support members and structurally strengthen the top facing in select areas. In one embodiment, each reinforced section may comprise a stiffening spline attached to the top facing. The ceiling panel is hung from the grid support members via the hangers and reinforced sections. Fasteners may be used to attach the hangers to the reinforced sections which resist pullout when the panel is hung. In certain embodiments, the reinforced sections extend longitudinally through a central portion of the panel to prevent sagging between the panel sides.
