Method and resin impregnating device for producing a reinforcing bar

A resin impregnating device (1) is used in a method for producing a reinforcing bar and has a chamber for holding a liquid thermoplastic resin. A plurality of guide plates (4A-4C) is arranged in the chamber along a traveling direction of a plurality of strands of reinforcing fiber material (Fb). Through holes (41) in two of the guide plates (4A, 4C) guide or spread the strands of the reinforcing fiber material Fb away from each other, and a single through hole (42) in an intermediate one of the guide plates (4B) guides or converges all the strands of the reinforcing fiber material (Fb) towards each other.

A peelable protective composite for flooring is made of an open mesh fabric embedded in a polymeric film having a tensile strength of at least 5 megapascals, an elongation of more than 1,000 percent, and adhesive strength of no more than about one megapascal. The protective composite can also be used to enhance curing of freshly poured concrete.

MECHANICAL COUPLINGS FOR REINFORCING BARS

There is disclosed a mechanical coupling for two rebars. The coupling includes a first extremity disposed on a first of the two rebars, and a second extremity disposed on a second of the two rebars. Each of the first and second extremities are machined to effect an interlocking, form-fit connection between the two rebars, wherein the form-fit connection prevents separation of the extremities and inhibits axial displacement of the two rebars with respect to each other. The coupling further includes a covering disposed about the two extremities when the extremities are interconnected via the interlocking, form-fit connection. Also disclosed and described is a related method.

Reinforcing mesh element, structure having such a reinforcing mesh element and method for producing a reinforcing mesh element
11536031 · 2022-12-27 · ·

A reinforcing mesh element for embedding in a cement matrix of a building structure, preferably in a corner region or in a curved region. The reinforcing mesh element has a grid-shaped arrangement of fiber bundles that are embedded in a plastic matrix. The reinforcing mesh element has at least one rigid zone and at least one flexible zone. In the at least one flexible zone the plastic matrix consists of an elastomer plastic. The plastic matrix comprises in the at least one rigid zone a thermoset plastic. The flexible or rigid form of the reinforcing mesh element is thus obtained, due to the set-up of the plastic matrix. Additional stiffening bodies or stiffening elements that are connected with the grid-shaped arrangement can be omitted. The reinforcing mesh element can be adapted to the respective situation and simplifies handling when manufacturing a building structure.

Impregnated cloth

A knitted spacer fabric has a tightly knitted bottom layer, a more loosely knitted upper layer and linking fibres extending across the space between the lower and upper faces. Settable material, e.g. cement, is introduced into the space between the upper and lower faces and can be caused to set by the addition of a liquid, e.g. water. Until set, the fabric is flexible and can be shaped but after the material in space has set, the fabric is rigid and can be used as a structural element in a wide range of situations. The bottom layer has an extension that extends beyond the upper face and is connected to the upper face by elastic connecting fibres that draw the extension towards the other face, thereby at least partly closing the space at the edge of the cloth and preventing the settable material from spilling out. In addition, the packing of the settable material and maximum space between the faces are such that only a predetermined amount of liquid can be accommodated within the space and that amount is matched to the water required to set the cement.

Self-stressing shape memory alloy-fiber reinforced polymer patch

A self-stressing shape memory alloy (SMA)/fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite patch is disclosed that can be used to repair cracked steel members or other civil infrastructures. Prestressed carbon FRP (CFRP) patches have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional methods of repair. However, prestressing these patches typically requires heavy and complex fixtures, which is impractical in many applications. This disclosure describes a new approach in which the prestressing force is applied by restraining the shape memory effect of nickel titanium niobium alloy (NiTiNb) SMA wires. The wires are subsequently embedded in an FRP overlay patch. This method overcomes the practical challenges associated with conventional prestressing.
