Self-stressing shape memory alloy-fiber reinforced polymer patch
A self-stressing shape memory alloy (SMA)/fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite patch is disclosed that can be used to repair cracked steel members or other civil infrastructures. Prestressed carbon FRP (CFRP) patches have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional methods of repair. However, prestressing these patches typically requires heavy and complex fixtures, which is impractical in many applications. This disclosure describes a new approach in which the prestressing force is applied by restraining the shape memory effect of nickel titanium niobium alloy (NiTiNb) SMA wires. The wires are subsequently embedded in an FRP overlay patch. This method overcomes the practical challenges associated with conventional prestressing.
Structural cable having an inner housing
A structural cable of a construction work. The structural cable including a bundle of load-bearing tendons, a sheath within which the bundle of tendons is located, a housing located within the sheath and fixed relative to the sheath, said housing defining a cavity, the bundle of tendons being at a distance from the housing and the cavity, the bundle of tendons being located outside the housing and the cavity, said cavity extending longitudinally relative to the sheath.

Intermediate anchor assembly
An intermediate anchor assembly includes an encapsulated anchor having a front and rear encapsulation extensions. The assembly includes a cap with an outer surface and a front tube with an inside diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of a tension member. The assembly includes a front adapter that sealingly couples to the outer surface of the cap and sealingly couples to the outer surface of the front tube. The assembly includes a rear tube having an inside diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of the tension member. The assembly includes a rear adapter that sealingly couples to the rear encapsulation extension and sealingly couples to the outer surface of the rear tube. The assembly includes a first split seal sealingly fit between the tension member and the front tube and a second split seal sealingly fit between the tension member and the rear tube.
Pre-stressed sinusoidal member in assembly and applications
Sinusoidal shaped member units and support member units are parts that form pre-stressed assemblies having flexural properties. Sinusoidal shaped members are relaxed material members that have been elastically deformed. Support members maintain the elastically deformed state of the sinusoidal shaped members. The sinusoidal shaped members and support members are organized into pre-stressed curvilinear assemblies containing stored elastic potential energy that is equal to the work done by the forces that deformed their pre-stressed structure. The assemblies' sinusoidal shaped members and support members are adapted to use materials having exceptional mechanical properties and flexural strength. This includes nano-composites. The assemblies' pre-stressed state enhances its mechanical, electrical and structural performance. The size, number, density and possible geometric configurations of the sinusoidal shaped member units and support member units within an assembly/structure is vast. Products of this sinusoidal building system have mechanical and structural applications and can be manufactured using an automated process.
CABLE USING COLD-DRAWN SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY WIRES AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
The present invention relates to a cable using cold-drawn shape memory alloy wires, which facilitates concrete prestressing or other operations, and has excellent adhesion to concrete and manufacturability. The cable using cold-drawn shape memory alloy wires includes: a core wire configured by a cold-drawn shape memory alloy deformed by cold drawing to have an increased length; and a plurality of peripheral wires configured by cold-drawn shape memory alloy wires which are deformed by cold drawing to have an increased length and are couple to the core wire while being wound in a same direction along the circumference of the core wire.

Cable-Supported Structural Assembly with Flexible Reinforced Concrete Structural Element
A structural assembly utilizing a reinforced concrete support element with a flexibly-braided reinforcement sleeve and a cable system for building structures. The reinforced concrete BMASS element has an approximately cylindrical shape and includes a substantially solid concrete core. An outer reinforcement sleeve with a flexible multi-axially braided configuration is embedded on the perimeter, and an inner reinforcement sleeve is embedded within the outer sleeve. A cable tension system connected between the ends of the BMASS element transmits tensile force from the cable to the BMASS element. The structural assembly can be configured as a beam or a column. In a beam configuration, the tensioned cable can also provide beam curvature and greater strength. A multi-cable embodiment includes a second cable, providing additional strength and greater ability to control curvature. One or more of the braces may include an adjustable arm. The tension may be adjusted manually, or remotely.
