ROOFING BATTEN

A batten for use in roofing applications is defined by an upside-down U-shaped channel with outwardly projecting horizontal flanges. In certain versions, the legs forming the sides of the channel are asymmetrical to allow vertical orientation of at least one of the legs when installed on an angled roof. This improves strength and load bearing of the installed member, and allows it to provide a fall barrier for roof installers. In certain versions, one of the flanges has a ribbed impact reduction zone. This zone deforms when a building anchor, such as a nail, passes through it to anchor the member to a roof. The deformation prevents anchors fired from conventional equipment from passing completely through the member and holds the anchors more securely in place.

Tile and support structure

In one aspect of a tile and support structure, a support structure may be engaged with a top portion of a pedestal. The support structure may be formed with a generally vertical spine having at least one rail extending outward from a distal end thereof. The spine and rail(s) may be configured to secure one or more tiles, which tiles may be formed with a groove on at least one edge thereof, and wherein one or more rails may be positioned within the groove.

Subframe support for retrofit roof

A subframe configuration for a retrofit roof includes a subframe connected to the upper surface of a rib on an existing roof. The subframe is also connected to the valley/purlin of the existing roof. The connection can be a mechanical interference connection or one that is formed by a mechanical connector. The subframe of the disclosure includes a rib flange that extends from the bottom of the lip. The rib flange is disposed substantially parallel to the base of the subframe. When installed, a connector extends through the rib flange into a rib of the existing roof. Rib flange can be continuous or provided only at each or just some of the ribs.

PEDESTAL AND SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR TILE

A support structure configured for attachment to a pedestal upper surface with a support structure spine extending upward from the support structure; a first support structure rail and second support structure rail each extending perpendicularly outward from the support structure spine. A tile comprising a groove formed in at least one of the plurality of side edges; wherein the groove of the at least one of the plurality of edges of the tile is configured for engagement by the first support structure rail of the support structure.

BATTEN AND WALL SYSTEM

A wall (or roof) system includes: an exterior sheathing covers a frame, a plurality of spaced apart battens are affixed on the sheathing, and a siding in contact with the battens. Each batten includes: a backweb having two sides and a length, a plurality of elongated piers upstanding on each side of the backweb, each pier running the length of the backweb, and each pier having a distal surface, and a first air flow channel defined between adjacent piers and a horizontal pier cutting through adjacent piers. Air flows between airspaces created between the exterior sheathing and the siding by the batten. Air also flows through the first air flow channel and this air flow may reduce moisture entrapment between the batten and the siding or the exterior sheathing. The batten may also have a second air flow channel at an angle to the first air flow channel.

Purlin, roofing system, and method of building a roofing system

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for a purlin. The purlin can include a steel structure having a pair of outer flanges flaring away from a support surface for defining outer edges of the purlin. Connected to respective inner edges of the outer flanges along bent edges can be a pair of supports. The supports can be configured to engage a support surface and define a lower surface of the purlin. Connected to respective inner edges of the supports can be a pair of support webs that extend away from the support surface.
