A microbial growth and dust retardant roofing shingle comprising a substrate and a pore filling composition applied on the surface of the substrate is disclosed. The pore filling composition comprises a silane or acrylic composition. A method of protecting a substrate from microbial growth and soiling using the pore filling composition of the present disclosure is also disclosed.
Roofing products with zones of algae-resistant granules and method of manufacture
The present disclosure relates generally to roofing products, for example, suitable for use covering and protecting the roofs of structures. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a roofing product including an upper section and an exposed section. The roofing product includes a substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface, and a plurality of zones of roofing granules disposed on the top surface of the substrate. The plurality of zones includes first, second and third zones within the exposed section. The first zone includes a first collection of algae-resistant roofing granules and has a first algae-resistance intensity. The second zone includes a second collection of algae-resistant roofing granules and has a second algae-resistance intensity. The third zone has a third algae-resistance intensity that is different from the first algae-resistance intensity.
Roofing panel for concealing a biocidal source
Roofing panels for concealing a biocidal source are described. In embodiments, the roofing panels include a body having as top side, a bottom side parallel with the top side, a front edge, a rear edge, and a left edge. The roofing panels may further include a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and one or more standoffs. The first and second sidewalls may have a tapered sidewall height that provides a gap between the body of the roofing panel and underlying material. The roofing panel may be installed over a biocidal source on a roof, concealing the biocidal source from view while still allowing liquid (e.g., water) to flow over the biocidal source.

A portion of the first ion-dispersing thread extends in a direction, the direction is non-parallel to the first edge of the first barrier member, and the direction is non-perpendicular to the first edge of the first barrier member.

Roofing panels for concealing a biocidal source are described. In embodiments, the roofing panels include a body having as top side, a bottom side parallel with the top side, a front edge, a rear edge, and a left edge. The roofing panels may further include a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and one or more standoffs. The first and second sidewalls may have a tapered sidewall height that provides a gap between the body of the roofing panel and underlying material. The roofing panel may be installed over a biocidal source on a roof, concealing the biocidal source from view while still allowing liquid (e.g., water) to flow over the biocidal source.
METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR LIGHTNING PROTECTION
A particulate composition suitable for protection against lightning is disclosed. The particulate composition comprises of a particulate matter comprising a mineral compound, preferably black tourmaline, capable of emitting negatively charged ions continuously, a grinding auxiliary agent, and a liquid medium. The particulate composition is embedded in a substrate, coating or mixed into the granules of composite roofing to protect people, objects and structures from lightning by developing a negatively charged cloaking shield to prevent the attraction of negatively charged lightning from striking. The composition infused or applied on a subject continuously emits negative ions sufficiently producing a protective electromagnetic cloaking shield restricting the wicking action of positive ions up from ground surface and thereby restricting the formation of positive streamers that reach upwards towards the stepped leaders of lightning.

Algae resistant roofing granules with controlled algaecide leaching rates, algae resistant shingles, and process for producing same
Algae-resistant roofing granules are formed by extruding a mixture of mineral particles and a binder to form porous granule bodies, and algaecide is distributed in the pores. Release of the algaecide is controlled by the structure of the granules.
EXTERIOR COATING COMPOSITION
A coating composition is provided for inhibiting growth of fungus and/or algae on a surface. The coating composition includes a dry film preservative and an antibacterial dry-film preservative comprising an immobilized isothiazolin-3-one derivative/zinc oxide complex. The amount of the antibacterial preservative comprising immobilized 1,2-isothiazolin-3-one derivative/zinc oxide complex and the dry film preservative contained in the coating composition is sufficient to inhibit or prevent the defacement of a surface exposed to the environment, when such defacement is due to growth of fungi or algae, or a combination of fungi and algae on a surface coated with said surface coating composition.
