A modular storm shelter is provided. The shelter has a central node with individual modules attached to the node and extending outwardly from the node. Any number of additional modules may be attached to other modules to extend the modules farther from the node and increase the capacity of the shelter. The outwardly extending modules function as stabilizing extension arms that prevent the shelter from overturning during extreme wind events, such as tornados and hurricanes. Each of the modules can be individually transported to an installation site so that the shelter can be assembled on site. Once assembled, the storm shelter rests on the ground and does not require attachment to a concrete slab or similar foundation.

Various forms of rubber compositions may be applied to create a temporary, removable waterproof barrier for various building structures or components such as doors, windows, houses, barns, sheds, mobile homes, automobiles, recreational vehicles, boats, campers, tents, vinyl awnings, covers and tarps, and the like. In some aspects, the form of removable rubber compositions may include a sprayable aerosol-based liquid composition, a viscous liquid rubber composition, a malleable paste or caulk, or a rubberized adhesive tape. In some aspects, the rubber compositions may be applied to portions of a building structure or component which are at risk from water damage due to an approaching storm or natural event, and to create a temporary, watertight barrier that is removable without damaging the building structure or component. The rubber compositions and rubberized tape may be removed from the building structure or component after the storm or natural event has subsided.

Arc fault detection in solar panel systems

A system for detecting arc faults in a solar array generally comprises a plurality of solar panels connected in series, where each solar panel comprises a positive and negative output. A panel monitoring device is connected between the positive and negative output of each solar panel. The panel monitoring device comprises a switching device configurable to disconnect an output from the solar panel. The panel monitoring device comprises logic configured to scan a frequency spectrum of the solar panel and log locations of a plurality of valleys in the spectrum, monitor the plurality of valleys to determine if the plurality of valleys rise above a threshold value, report a fault status when the plurality of valleys rise above the threshold value, and automatically disable the output of the solar panel upon the determination of a fault status.
