Tuned liquid damper with a membrane liquid-gas interface
A tuned liquid damper, including a first outer housing having two ends, the first end being open to the atmosphere and the second end being connected by a conduit to a gas-filled second outer housing. The conduit may be adapted to allow gas flow between the second end and the second outer housing. The tuned liquid damper may also include first and second membranes, each attached to the inside of the first outer housing, and a sealed compartment within the first outer housing defined by the first and second membranes. The sealed compartment may be at least partially filled with a liquid, which prevents gas flow through the first outer housing from the first end to the second end.
ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR DAMPING VIBRATIONS OF A STRUCTURE
The invention relates to an assembly for damping vibrations of a structure (I), having a wall element (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) to be fitted in a upright position, a casing element (Sa, Sb, Sc, 8d) and a damping device (22a, 22b, 22c, 22d), which is connected to the casing element (Sa, Sb, Sc, 8d) and to the wall element (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) such that a relative movement between the wall element (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) and the casing element (Sa, Sb, Sc, 8d) is transmitted to the damping device (22a, 22b, 22c, 22d). The damping device (22a, 22b, 22c, 22d) is designed to damp a vibrating movement of the wall element (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) in a damping direction and is arranged such that the damping device is oriented substantially parallel to a surface of the wall element (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d). The invention further relates to a method for damping vibrations of a structure.

Re-deployable mobile above ground shelter
A protective shelter including an enclosure having at least a floor, at least one sidewall coupled to the floor, a door, and a roof coupled to the at least one sidewall. The protective shelter further includes one or more members coupled to the enclosure that support the protective shelter on a substrate and a resilient grouser attached to at least one of the one or more members and in contact with the substrate.
Systems and methods for insulating attic openings
A cover for closing an access opening that leads to an infrequently used space within a building, such as an attic, that generally provides an air seal, thermal insulation and/or acoustic insulation at the access opening. The cover may be in one or two portions, including a closure alone or a closure and a frame having an aperture that can be closed by engagement between the closure and the frame. When the cover is used alone it engages a frame or a wall circumscribing the access opening. The cover is sized and shaped to close a stairwell, or the opening at one end of a stairway, an opening in a generally vertical wall, a hatch, or a pull down ladder. The closure and frame are each made of one or more components.

Flood-protective ventilation louver
A flood-protective ventilation louver includes a window frame assembly, slat assemblies, a transmission mechanism, and a buoyance switch assembly. During flooding, external water passes through the window frame assembly into the buoyance switch assembly, such that the buoyance switch assembly is caused to release the transmission mechanism from constraint to thereby allow the slat of each of the slat assemblies to oscillate downward automatically and thus automatic closing is realized.
MOON COMPLEX, ORBITING DOCKING SPACEPORT, AND METHODS OF USE AND TRANSPORTATION
A moon/planet complex, an orbiting docking spaceport, and transportation vehicles therebetween that includes i) moon/planet base station having a landing platform with a plurality of charged plates; ii) a moon/planet orbiting craft, docking spacecraft having landing platform with a plurality of charged plates; iii) a personnel transport spacecraft to shuttle personnel between an orbiting craft and planetary/moon base station having rotating electromagnetic rings 320 and/or rotating electromagnetic plates to interact with charged plates; iv) a large personnel/cargo transport spacecraft to shuttle personnel between an orbiting craft and planetary base station having rotating electromagnetic plates to interact with charged plates.
