Method for erecting a wind turbine tower using stud bolts
A method for erecting a wind turbine tower is disclosed. A tower section (8) comprising a lower flange (9) and an upper flange (10), and a plurality of stud bolts (6) and nuts (7) are provided. The tower section (8) is oriented in an upright position with the lower flange (9) below the upper flange (10), and stud bolts (6) are positioned in bolt holes (12) in the lower flange (9) with nuts (7) arranged on an upper side of the lower flange (9). The tower section (8) is lifted to a mounting position on top of another tower section (13), and a flange combination is formed by aligning the bolt holes (12) formed in the lower flange (9) of the tower section (8) with bolt holes (15) formed in an upper flange (14) of the other tower section (13), while advancing the stud bolts (6) through the bolt holes (12, 15). The invention further provides a socket tool (16) for screwing nuts (7) onto stud bolts (6) in a manner which positions the stud bolts (6) correctly with respect to a flange (9).
Post setting system
A post setting attachment for a utility vehicle includes a base having a first side mountable to the utility vehicle, the base having a second side opposing the first side of the base. The post setting attachment can include a column coupled to the second side of the base and have a length extending vertically. The post setting attachment can further include a pair of clamps attached at separate lengths along the column and configured to grasp a post. The post setting attachment can include a controller that rotates and translates the column to adjust a position of the post. Furthermore, the post setting attachment can include a gravel hopper coupled to the second side of the base that is controlled by the controller to discharge gravel after the controller adjusts the position of the post to secure the post in position.
Metal skeleton for the reinforcement of vertically elongated concrete structures
A metal skeleton for the reinforcement of a vertically elongated concrete structure has a first plurality of leg members each having top and bottom ends and inner and outer side edges together defining a leg body portion. A first plurality of rib plate engagement slots are formed in at least one of the inner side edge and the outer side edge. Each of the leg members is formed from a flat sheet of metal material. A first plurality of rib plates each define a generally planar central body portion and each have a first plurality of leg-engagement slots projecting into the central body portion. The leg-engagement slots are dimensioned and adapted to frictionally engage with respective ones of the rib plate engagement slots. The first plurality of leg-engagement slots slidingly interfit within respective ones of the first plurality of rib-engagement slots to securely connect the rib plates to the leg members to form the metal skeleton.
System for coupling together segments of a utility pole, and a utility pole assembly comprising the same
There is provided a utility pole assembly including a utility pole. The utility pole includes a plurality of pole segments. A first said pole segment includes a flange and an end portion extending outwards from the flange. A second said pole segment is shaped to fit about the end portion. The second said pole segment having a distal end and including a flange adjacent to said distal end of the second said pole segment. The assembly includes at least one longitudinally-extending guide pin connectable with a first one of the flanges. The guide pin is at least partially extendable through a second one of the flanges.
Pole setting device and method of using the same
The disclosure relates to a pole setting device to assist in setting a utility pole in a base while maintaining electrical isolation between the utility pole and a worker, the device having: a non-electrically conductive elongate member having a handle end and an opposite pole end, and having a length between the handle end and the opposite pole end; a bracket adapted to contact to an exterior surface of the pole and to the pole end of the non-electrically conductive elongate member.
Multi-axial mast positioning system
A tiltable telescoping support structure positioning system includes a frame having first and second opposed vertical sections. A telescoping support structure is disposed between the first and second opposed vertical sections, the telescoping support structure having a plurality of telescoping sections extendable from a base section along a longitudinal axis thereof. The base section of the telescoping support structure is tiltably coupled to the first and second opposed vertical sections to permit the base section to tilt along a first tilt path towards either of the first and second opposed vertical sections of the frame. A tilting mechanism is coupled between the base section of the telescoping support structure so as to tilt the telescoping support structure about a second tilt path aligned perpendicular to the tilt path between the first and second opposed vertical sections of the frame.
SIDE SADDLE SLINGSHOT DRILLING RIG
A side saddle slingshot drilling rig includes a left and right substructure including a left and right lower box. The side saddle slingshot drilling rig includes a drill rig floor mechanically and pivotably coupled to the left and right lower boxes such that it is pivotably movable from a lowered position to a raised position. The drill rig floor includes a V-door. The V-door is positioned on the V-door side of the drill rig floor. The V-door side of the drill rig floor is oriented to face the right substructure. A mast coupled to the drill rig floor may include an open side, defining a mast V-door side. The mast V-door side may be oriented to face the right substructure. The mast may pivot into its raised position or may be a bootstrap mast.
Concrete tower and related formwork and related method of construction
A collar assembly of or for a tower being formed by progressively higher concrete composition pours into reinforcement including formwork defined cavities, the assembly comprising or including; a higher subassembly adapted as a collar to selectively index to a zone of the tower being formed, a lower subassembly adapted as a collar to selectively index to a zone of the tower being formed, and a jacking arrangement whereby (I), when the lower subassembly is zone indexed and the higher subassembly is not, the higher subassembly can be raised relative to the lower subassembly and the zone to a fresh indexing height and (II), when the higher subassembly is zone indexed and the lower subassembly is not, the lower subassembly can be raised to a fresh indexing height.
System and method for repairing dents in wind turbine tower sections and a related dent repair tool
A system for repairing dents in a wind turbine tower section may generally include a dent repair tool having a tool hub and a plurality of arms configured to extend radially outwardly from the tool hub towards an inner surface of the tower section. The tool may also include a linear actuator configured to linearly actuate a plunger of the actuator arm relative to the tool hub such that the plunger applies a radially outward force against the inner surface of the tower section at or adjacent to a location of a dent formed in the tower section. In addition, the system may include a load sensor configured to provide an indication of a load associated with the radially outward force applied against the inner surface of the tower section by the plunger and a controller configured to monitor the load based on signals received from the load sensor.
TOWER SEGMENT HANDLING METHOD AND APPARATUS
