A plurality of kinds of viewing surfaces are provided. The respects-paying window is provided with an altering device configured to change the size of a visually unobstructed area depending on the size of the viewing surface, of an object of paying of respects located at the support location, that is selected to be viewed, the visually unobstructed area being an area through which a person visiting to pay respects can view the object.

A work area is provided at a location separate from the respects-paying area. Provided in the work area is a work-purpose support location where a container is supported when performing replacement work on one or more items. The transport system is further configured to also transport an object of paying of respects between the storage location and the work-purpose support location.

There is provided A process for producing a biocompatible soil mixture from cremated ash remains, the process comprising: mixing cremated ash remains with a soil base material and a nutrient composition to produce a pre-conditioned mixture, the nutrient composition comprising at least one of paramagnetic material, soil conditioner and fertilizer; and conditioning the pre-conditioned mixture using a microbial conditioner to adjust the adverse chemical properties of the cremated ash remains biologically to produce a conditioned soil mixture being biocompatible for a legacy tree, wherein the pre-conditioned mixture comprises less than 10% of the cremated ash remains by volume.

The columbarium includes a lock assembly for securing the lid to the columbarium base including a slide catch disposed on an interior portion of the lid and a latch assembly having a latch member. The latch assembly is secured to the columbarium base and is rotatingly engageable with the slide catch by rotation of a horizontal shaft having a free end with a male or female portion aligned with the side key opening. The lock assembly includes a key having a male or female portion for mating with the latch assembly shaft. The lid is removable by inserting the key in the key opening, engaging the key male or female portion with the latch assembly shaft male or female portion and rotating the key until a free end of the latch member disengages the slide catch.

The at least one desiccation vessel is sufficiently light, durable, and air-tight such that the at least one desiccation vessel with the decedent contained therein can be easily relocated without the need for special vehicles or trained personnel.
