METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR UV-BASED AIRCRAFT DECONTAMINATION
20210402023 · 2021-12-30 · ·

Described herein are methods and systems for decontaminating surfaces on aircraft from pathogens using UV lights with wavelengths between about 200 nanometers and about 240 nanometers. These wavelengths are able to effectively decontaminate pathogens while remaining safe to humans. In other words, humans can remain in decontamination zones during operation of these systems. Furthermore, UV transparent apparatuses, such as door handles, allow decontamination of all surfaces of these apparatuses whether these surfaces are directly or indirectly exposed to the UV light. The indirect exposure is provided by the UV lights passing through the apparatus. Therefore, even surfaces without a line of sight to UV light sources are decontaminated. As such, these methods and systems allow to achieve effective decontamination of an apparatus with a complex surface (e,g., a door handle) without requiring many UV light sources positioned around this apparatus.

GERMICIDAL DOOR HANDLE

A germicidal door handle or other surface touched by a user may include one or more light sources configured to emit light at a wavelength effective to act as a germicidal. In some instances, the door handle/surface may interact with a controller configured to selectively activate the one or more light sources. The controller may be configured to perform the following steps: (1) activating the one or more light sources, (2) deactivating the one or more light sources upon an occurrence of a first predetermined condition, and (3) reactivating the one or more light sources upon an occurrence of a second predetermined condition.

DOOR HANDLE SANITIZER

The present invention provides a door handle enveloping sanitizer defined by a multi-apertured ring dimensioned to seat on or about a door handle be it either a round or elongated lever type which seats between a door and the grasping component of the door handle or knob. A plurality of UV emitting LED bulbs are housed in the ring and emit UV light which is beamed onto the grasping portion of the handle.

VEHICLE DOOR HANDLE SANITIZING SYSTEM

A vehicle door assembly comprising includes a vehicle door panel, a vehicle door handle operably connected to the door panel so as to enable operation of a door latch by the door handle, and at least one sanitizer dispensing mechanism having at least a first nozzle coupled to the vehicle door panel and structured to discharge a sanitizing material onto an exterior surface of the door handle.

ENHANCED MAINTENANCE ANTIVIRAL COATINGS FOR CABIN SURFACES
20210388217 · 2021-12-16 ·

A protective enhanced-maintenance antiviral coating for interior components of a passenger cabin is disclosed. In embodiments, the enhanced-maintenance antiviral coating incorporates into the antiviral coating indicating agents, e.g., reflective or fluorescent compounds that combine with the antiviral coating without otherwise impeding its antiviral and/or antibacterial properties. The enhanced-maintenance antiviral coating is applied to external surfaces of the interior components of an aircraft cabin or other mobile platform especially prone to frequent physical contact by multiple individuals. The indicating agent reacts via reflectivity and/or fluorescence when ultraviolet (UV) band or otherwise specialized lighting is applied to the external surfaces. A lack of reflectivity or fluorescence may be interpreted as significant wear or damage to the antiviral coating, for which corrective actions may be taken.

AUTOMATED DOOR HANDLE / PANEL SANITIZER DISPENSING ASSEMBLY

An automatic door handle/panel sanitizer dispensing assembly comprising a frame, a control unit including a processor, an actuator assembly controlled by the processor, the actuator assembly includes one of a pump and a valve, a first sensor operatively connected to the processor, a power storage unit powering the control unit, the actuator assembly, and the first sensor, a first nozzle and a second nozzle, both fluidly connected to the actuator assembly, a container coupled to the frame, for storing disinfectant, a threaded hook to hang the assembly onto the door handle, a tray having an arcuate shape and being arranged abutting a roof of the frame and being supported by the frame, a plurality of threaded tray holes extending through the tray arranged proximate to a rear end of the tray.

FACILITATION OF OPENING AND CLOSING OF STRUCTURES WITHOUT USE OF HAND
20210381274 · 2021-12-09 ·

Opening and closing a door without the use of one's hands is facilitated. For instance, an apparatus can comprise one or two rotatable rings. For a one ring apparatus, the ring can have an opening so that the inner cross section of the opening of the ring can be pushed with a forearm or knee so that the ring will rotate and the person can then pull on the ring with his/her forearm or knee to open the door. In a two-ring apparatus, two adjacent rings, both with openings, can comprise similar push surfaces. When pushed on the pushed surfaces, the rings will rotate and the cross sections of the openings of the rings come into contact with one another, creating a surface against which a forearm or knee can pull on to open the door. A rotation plane converter can turn a doorknob using the apparatus.

A tool for facilitating no-contact activities includes a first manipulation member having a curvilinear edge defining a first surface and an opposing second surface. The curvilinear edge is provided with a plurality of bump surfaces. A second manipulation member extends outwardly of the first manipulation member, and a third manipulation member extends from the second manipulation member. The third manipulation member includes at least one hook element. One of the first manipulation member and the second manipulation member includes an accessory mount that is configured to detachably receives a no-contact accessory.

FLEXIBLE UVC DISINFECTANT DEVICE

A device configured for disinfecting a desired touchpoint may include a flexible housing, which may be field configurable into two or more different shapes to accommodate the desired touchpoint. The flexible housing may house a plurality of ultraviolet-C(UVC) light-emitting diodes (LEDs), a power source, and a controller which may be operatively coupled to the plurality of UVC LEDs, the power source, and a motion sensor. In response to receiving a motion signal from the motion sensor indicating motion near the desired touchpoint, the controller waits until the motion sensor no longer detects motion and then activates one or more of the plurality of UVC LEDs for a predetermined period of time to disinfect the desired touchpoint.
