KEY-OPERABLE LOCKSET

A lockset including a chassis having a locked state and an unlocked state, a latchbolt connected with the chassis, a handle mounted to the chassis, and a lock cylinder connected with the chassis. The handle is operable to retract the latchbolt when the chassis is unlocked, and is inoperable to retract the latchbolt when the chassis is locked. The lock cylinder includes a shell and a plug selectively rotatable relative to the shell. The chassis is configured to transition from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to rotation of the plug in a first rotational direction from a home position to a first rotated position. The chassis is configured to return from the unlocked state to the locked state in response to rotation of the plug in a second rotational direction from the first rotated position to the home position.

Barrel pin assemblies

The disclosure relates to a cylinder lock wherein an eccentric barrel pin assembly with two contact points within the keyway are independently movable within the barrel to a common shear line against a single nested column pin assembly.

NEGATIVE POISSON'S RATIO MATERIALS FOR DOORS AND WINDOWS

A door includes a rectangular panel having a first face, a second face, and two pairs of opposing edges, in which the edges of each pair of edges are parallel and in which a first pair of edges is longer than a second pair of edges. The rectangular panel includes a layered composite material, in which a first layer of the composite material has a positive Poisson's ratio (PPR) and a second layer of the composite material is disposed in contact with the first layer and that includes a material having a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR). The door includes a hinge including plates joined together by a joint, in which a first one of the plates is attached to a first one of the edges of the first pair of edges and in which a second one of the plates extends beyond the first one of the edges. The door also includes a handle opening defined through a thickness of the rectangular panel.

Handcuff apparatus

A set of handcuffs utilizing a conventional single strand and double strand system with ratchet teeth to prevent opening by virtue of one or more pawls is provided. The handcuffs may be connected via chain or similar device. Standard handcuffs may be unlocked by use of a universal key thereby creating safety and security issues. This design incorporates secondary security features which require that a handcuff be manipulated in some additional manner simultaneously while a handcuff key is utilized. This system requires two sets of hands to be used simultaneously to disengage the locking system. One hand of a person wearing the handcuffs is unable to manipulate the handcuff on which it is worn. As a result, it is virtually impossible for the wearer of the handcuffs to unlock the handcuffs/restraining device even if the person is in possession of the required key.

STATUS-INDICATING CYLINDRICAL LOCK ASSEMBLY

An exemplary status-indicating locking assembly includes a cylindrical lock assembly and a status-indicating assembly. The status-indicating assembly includes a sensor configured to sense the status of the cylindrical lock assembly, a transmission configured to communicate the lock status to at least one side of a door, and an indicator configured to display indicia relating to the lock status on the at least one side of the door. In certain forms, the sensor, transmission, and indicator may be electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, magnetic, or combinations thereof.

ENHANCED SECURITY HANDCUFF APPARATUS

A handcuff design is provided, including a handcuff strand having ratchet teeth with openings formed therein, a ratchet button comprising teeth configured to interface with the openings formed in the handcuff strand, a universal handcuff key receptacle configured to receive a universal handcuff key, a pawl arrangement including a rotatable pawl element configured to be moved in a direction away from the handcuff strand by the universal handcuff key, the pawl arrangement including a spring mechanism, and a lock bar configured to impede movement of the pawl arrangement unless moved to an unlocked position.

A cylinder lock assembly includes a plug rotatable in a cylinder lock body. The plug includes chambers, each of which has a chamber depth axis. A plurality of thin, planar plug locking elements are received in the chambers. Each plug locking element has a key cut interface probe for interfacing with a key cut formed on a key. Each plug locking element is arranged to move along the chamber depth axis and does not rotate about the chamber depth axis. Each key cut interface probe has a predetermined orientation with respect to the chamber depth axis.
