A method is provided for operating an activatable locking device for a door and/or a window of a vehicle, in particular of a motor vehicle, the method including the following steps: detecting a person located in the vehicle and the person's position with respect to the door and/or the displaceable window in the vehicle, ascertaining at least one biometric feature of the person indicative of the age, checking, on the basis of the at least one ascertained biometric feature, whether the person falls below a specifiable limit age, and activating the locking device if the person falls below the specifiable limit age and the position of the person is at the door and/or the displaceable window.
Electronic sensor and key operated lock
An electronic sensor and key operated lock is disclosed which provides users with the option to use at least one of a manually operated mechanism or for example a biometric sensor to unlock the lock. The lock integrates both the manually operated mechanism and a biometric sensor into one device. The manually operated mechanism and a biometric sensor are coupled to a common toggle switch so that operation of at least one of the manually operated mechanism and the biometric sensor moves the toggle switch and a shackle from locked and unlocked positions.

Compartmented refrigeration system
A compartmented refrigeration system is provided. The compartmented refrigeration system has a housing with an access door. The housing further includes a refrigeration system that can adjustably reduce the temperature in the housing's interior volume. The refrigeration system includes a compressor, a plurality of condenser coils, at least one expansion valve, a plurality of evaporator coils, and a refrigerant that can travel through the various components. A refrigeration controller is disposed in the housing interior volume to enable a user to adjust the temperature therein. A plurality of compartments is disposed in the housing interior volume. Each of the compartments are in thermal communication with the refrigeration system and further comprise a compartment access door. The compartment access door further includes a lock that a user can use to secure the individual compartment.

An identity-locked personal item is provided with a lock body configured to receive and release an engagement member upon receiving a matched biometric imprint from an authorized user. An actuator mechanism is connected to at least one capacitive surface and a controller with an integrated power supply inside the lock body, the lock body being further integrated into a secured container. The controller is configured to receive a contact datum from the capacitive surface, the actuator mechanism being operated upon recognition of a known datum or biometric signature.

A padlock device includes a housing; a shackle associated within the housing and having, with respect to the housing, a closed configuration and an open configuration; a latch subsystem associated with the housing for securely retaining the shackle in the closed configuration, the latch subsystem electrically operable to release the shackle; a biometric sensor associated with the housing to electronically sense fingerprint data from a finger being sensed; a control subsystem in the housing in communication with the biometric sensor and the latch subsystem, the control subsystem comprising: internal processor-readable memory configured to store one or more fingerprint records, each fingerprint record comprising authorized fingerprint data associated with a respective fingerprint identifier; processing structure configured to receive sensed fingerprint data from the biometric sensor and to cause the latch subsystem to release the shackle in the event of a release condition requiring at least that the sensed fingerprint data corresponds to authorized fingerprint data in at least one of the fingerprint records; the processing structure configured to present a management interface accessible by an external device in authorized communication with the control system to selectively: store one or more fingerprint records in the internal processor-readable memory; and delete or disable one or more stored fingerprint records in the internal processor-readable memory based at least on one or more respective fingerprint identifiers provided by the external device. A padlock system includes the padlock device; and a processor-readable medium embodying a computer program for provisioning an external device to conduct authorized communications with the padlock device, the computer program including program code for presenting a user interface on the external device for enabling the authorized manager to conduct managing of fingerprint records for the padlock device; and program code for accessing the management interface of the padlock device in accordance with the managing.
Safe with biometric lock mechanism
A safe for the storage of a valuable, such as a firearm. The safe has an imaging system that is used to scan a portion of a human in the near infrared spectrum to image blood vessels and determine if the image matches a stored image and thereafter effect unlocking of the safe. A manual override lock system is provided to manually effect unlocking of the safe.
