SYMMETRIC COHERENT OPTICAL MIXER
Aspects of a symmetric coherent optical mixer are described. In one example, the coherent optical mixer includes a group of symmetric MMI couplers and a group of symmetric bend waveguides optically coupled between the MMI couplers. The group of symmetric MMI couplers can include an input for a local light reference signal, an input for a modulated light signal, and outputs for detection of data from the modulated light signal. The group of symmetric MMI couplers can include four MMI couplers, each of which comprises a 22 MMI coupler of symmetric dimension. The group of symmetric bend waveguides can include a symmetric layout of four 90 bend waveguides optically coupled between the four MMI couplers. The coherent optical mixer, which can be implemented as a Silicon Photonics (SiPh) device, provides better performance as a 90 degree optical hybrid than prior mixer devices due to its symmetric layout.
System for a lock for a closure, a lock for use with such a system, and a closure system
A system for a closure lock comprises a battery-powered remote module with a lock mechanism for operating the lock, the remote module communicating with a base station coupled to a closure controller, the base station able to send lock control signals to the remote module to operate the lock. The module is arranged to have an operation mode and a non-operation mode, power consumption in the non-operation mode being lower than that in the operation mode, and is further configured to switch between the modes based on instructions from the base station. In the non-operation mode, the module maintains a communication link with the base station based on a pre-established synchronisation protocol. The invention provides reliability against interference between base station and remote module, whilst greatly limiting the power consumption of the remote module.
Gravity powered garage door control system and method
A gravity powered garage door control opening and closing system that eliminates the conventional electric garage door opener and eliminates its two most common risks of failure, the first being a gear and/or bearing failure and the second being an electrical power failure. Other advantages include a reduction in electrical power needed and a reduction in cost over every other type of garage door opener. The present invention operates by transferring fluid between a counter weight and a storage tank under programmed control to control the movement and speed of the garage door as a function of its position in the door guides in which the door moves in.
Handle system and mechanism for a vehicle rolling door
A handle system and mechanism for a vehicle rolling door is disclosed. The system has an inside handle with a handle portion and a shank portion. The system also has a selectively rotatable swing plate. The swing plate selectively contacts the shank portion of the inside handle to assist in opening the door. The swing plate can also contact a stop plate. An outside handle is also provided.
LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH REMOVABLE BATTERY
A vertical door latch assembly includes a housing and a bolt movably attached to the housing having a catch portion. A drive motor is located within the housing and is configured to selectively move a lock assembly between a locked position preventing movement of the bolt and an unlocked position allowing movement of the bolt. A controller is in electrical communication with the drive motor and is configured to direct the actuator lock assembly between the locked position and the unlocked position.
Industrial door lock
A locking mechanism for use with a door structure having a corrugated surface includes a main body having a corrugated surface. The locking mechanism is configured to be adjustable between an unlocked position where the corrugated surface of the main body is not nested relative to the corrugated surface of the door structure and a locked position where the corrugated surface of the main body is nested relative to the corrugated surface of the door structure. The corrugated surface of the main body includes a plurality of engagement surfaces. Each of the engagement surfaces is configured to resist movement and/or deformation of the door structure with respect to a direction of movement of the door structure associated with the door structure being moved from a closed position towards an open position.
A battery assembly is removable from the housing when the lock assembly is in first position and fixed to the housing when the lock assembly is in a second position. A controller is in electrical communication with the drive motor and is configured to direct the actuator lock assembly between the locked position and the unlocked position.
Latch assembly for vertical door and method of operating
A vertical door latch assembly includes a housing and a bolt movably attached to the housing having a catch portion. A drive motor is located within the housing and is configured to selectively move a lock assembly between a locked position preventing movement of the bolt and an unlocked position allowing movement of the bolt. A controller is in electrical communication with the drive motor and is configured to direct the actuator lock assembly between the locked position and the unlocked position. A force sensor is in electrical communication with the controller configured to measured when a force exceeds a predetermined threshold.
ROLLING SHUTTER RETRACTABLE STOP BAR
A slat for a rolling shutter comprises a body having a longitudinal channel and a side opening to the channel. A stop bar is slidably received in the body channel and is moveable between an extended position projecting from the body and a withdrawn position retracted toward the body. The stop bar comprises a rack that is actuatable through the side opening to move the stop bar between the extended and withdrawn positions. A pinion is positioned in the body channel in engagement with the rack, the rotation of the pinion actuating the rack to move the stop bar. The pinion is accessible for rotation through the side opening.
GARAGE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM
A garage door lock system is a security system for garage doors having two solenoids mounted to the roller tracks of the garage door which when activated extends a bar or rod through the rails to prevent the rollers at the edges of the garage door from traversing the rails. The system also includes a control unit, camera, motion sensors, and radio frequency transreceivers.
