Contactless operation of lavatory doors

A system for contactless operation of an aircraft lavatory door comprises a controller operatively connected to control an actuator for opening and closing a lavatory door. A gesture sensing system is operatively connected to the controller for sending gesture data to the controller indicative of a user gesturing for the actuator to actuate. A mmWave radar sensing system is operatively connected to the controller to indicate user presence. The controller includes machine readable instructions configured to verify gesture input from the gesture sensing system using input from the mmWave radar sensing system before controlling the actuator to open or close the lavatory door.

Hinge for saloon-type lavatory door

A hinge assembly that includes a frame adapter having a curved inner surface with a front portion and a rear portion, a door adapter having a curved outer surface with a front portion and a rear portion, at least one front hinge strip that is secured along a front hinge strip path, and at least one rear hinge strip that is secured along a rear hinge strip path. The front hinge strip path extends from the front portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the rear portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The rear hinge strip path extends from the rear portion of the curved outer surface of the door adapter to the front portion of the curved inner surface of the frame adapter. The curved outer surface of the door adapter opposes the curved inner surface of the frame adapter and the door adapter is movable relative to the frame adapter between a front open position, a closed position and a rear open position.

A door-operating assembly has an operating device having a device housing and a device magnet and rotatable in the housing about a first axis between a first functional position and a second functional position, and a status indicator that is coupled with the operating device and has an indicator housing and an indicator magnet movable in the indicator housing along the first axis between a first display position and a second display position. The magnets are so oriented that rotation of the device magnet about the first axis from the respective first functional position into the respective second functional position displaces the indicator magnet axially of the first axis from the first display position into the second display position.

Depressible Lock with Rotating Display

An indicator lock has a rotatable indicator which rotates with the depression of a button on the other side of the lock which is used to simultaneously cause a door to be locked and rotate the indicator. This is accomplished by way of a shaft which rotationally moves with the the locking button. The locking button is pressed inwards and rotates as it is pressed inwards due to a channel which is diagonally disposed relative to the direction the button is pressed. A pin extending out from a shaft of the button is in the diagonal channel and a spring adds tension to push the button and display back to the unlocked configuration. This tension is overcome when the button is pressed and the pin enters into a section of the channel which is parallel to the shaft and direction of button press.
