An apparatus including a capture device and a processor. The capture device may be configured to generate a plurality of video frames corresponding to an interior view of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames, detect an occupant of the vehicle and a seat of the vehicle based on the objects detected in the video frames, determine a status of the occupant based on characteristics of the occupant detected in the video frames and generate a signal in response to a comparison of the status of the occupant to a threshold. The characteristics may be determined by performing the operations on the occupant in the video frames. The signal may be configured to control a door lock. The door lock controlled by the signal may correspond to the seat used by the occupant.

A lock striker of a motor vehicle body lock includes a striker plate, crash securing means, and a striker. The striker is arranged on the striker plate. The striker has a striker section which is configured to admit a load. The striker plate has a first striker plate section which is configured to be connected to a body component. The striker plate has a second striker plate section on which the striker is arranged. The first striker plate section and the second striker plate section are elastically connected to one another. At least one aperture is situated in the second striker plate section between the first striker limb and the second striker limb. The crash securing means is formed with a first end fastened to the first striker plate section and with a second end which is situated in the aperture in a contact-free manner outside a crash situation and, in a crash situation, so as to bear against the second striker plate section.

LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH HYBRID BACKUP ENERGY SOURCE
20220195761 · 2022-06-23 ·

A latch assembly for a closure panel and corresponding method of operation are provided. The assembly includes an actuation group to latch and unlatch the closure panel using power from a main power source during normal operation. A first backup energy source is selectively coupled to the actuation group and stores energy during normal operation and supplies the energy during a failure. A second backup energy source is selectively coupled to the first backup energy source and supplies energy thereto during the failure. A latch controller is coupled to the backup energy sources and detects latch operation and whether there is normal operation. The latch controller charges the first backup energy source using energy from the second backup energy source based on the detection of latch operation and the failure and disconnects the second backup energy source during normal operation to conserve energy stored in the second backup energy source.

LOCKING DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE DOOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
20220154499 · 2022-05-19 ·

A motor vehicle locking device for a vehicle door includes a door lock that can be released electrically released and, parallel thereto, mechanically released via a mechanical operative connection to a first actuatable door handle. A coupling is arranged in the mechanical operative connection between the door handle and the door lock, which coupling can be engaged and disengaged via a coupling motor. A control unit is connected to a crash sensor for detecting an accident. In the normal operating state, the coupling is always in the disengaged state irrespective of opening requirements and, in addition to the coupling motor, can be engaged and disengaged by an electromagnetic actuating device that engages the coupling when the power is switched off. A first timer can be triggered by the signal of the crash sensor, such that the control unit, after the first timer elapses after receiving a crash signal, activates the coupling motor to engage the coupling. Accordingly, the mechanical active connection between the door handle and the lock is always disengaged, except in an accident situation.
