Closure system that resists separation when laterally loaded

An exemplary closure system includes, among other things, a striker assembly, a latch assembly, and a hooked structure. In response to the striker assembly and the latch assembly being laterally displaced from each other, the hooked structure engages one of the striker assembly or the latch assembly to block separation of the striker assembly from the latch assembly. An exemplary latching method includes, among other things, engaging a hooked structure in response to a striker assembly being laterally displaced relative to a latch assembly. The engaging blocks the striker assembly from separating relative to the latch assembly.

A lock striker of a motor vehicle body lock includes a striker plate, crash securing means, and a striker. The striker is arranged on the striker plate. The striker has a striker section which is configured to admit a load. The striker plate has a first striker plate section which is configured to be connected to a body component. The striker plate has a second striker plate section on which the striker is arranged. The first striker plate section and the second striker plate section are elastically connected to one another. At least one aperture is situated in the second striker plate section between the first striker limb and the second striker limb. The crash securing means is formed with a first end fastened to the first striker plate section and with a second end which is situated in the aperture in a contact-free manner outside a crash situation and, in a crash situation, so as to bear against the second striker plate section.

ACTIVE PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SYSTEM USING NON-CONTACT FORWARD SENSING AND HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPRING LOADED ACTUATOR

A closure latch system and method for capturing, releasing, and recapturing a striker of a hood of a motor vehicle are provided. The closure latch system includes at least one power actuator configured for communication with at least one sensor. The at least one power actuator is actuatable in response to a signal from the at least one sensor indicating an imminent impact with a pedestrian to pivot the hood to a partially open position, and thereafter, to pivot the hood to a closed position in response to an indication of there being no impact from the at least one sensor.

Structure for Operating Striker Capable of Being Fastened to Door Latch Part

An embodiment structure includes a housing configured to be mounted on a door of a vehicle, a casing configured to be movable in the housing, a striker mounted at one side of the casing and configured to be fixed by being caught by a latch part or released, a casing guide unit connected to the casing and configured to guide a forward movement of the casing, an elastic force providing unit configured to apply elastic force in a rearward direction of the casing, and an operating unit configured to move the casing guide unit forward or rearward.

Motor vehicle lock, in particular a motor vehicle door lock

A motor vehicle door lock includes a locking mechanism having a rotary latch, a pawl, and an actuating lever mechanism having at least one coupling lever rotatable about an axis and a mass inertia element rotatable about an additional axis spaced apart from the axis of the coupling lever to guide the coupling lever, at least in the event of an accident. The coupling lever in its “engaged” position connects the actuating lever mechanism mechanically with the locking mechanism and in its “disengaged” position ensures that the actuating lever mechanism is locked and/or separated from the locking mechanism. The mass inertia element has a guide contour for the coupling lever that interacts with a contact contour of the coupling lever so that the guide contour and/or contact contour is configured so that a force exerted upon it runs essentially tangentially to the diameter of the associated axis.
