Systems and methods for automated operation and handling of autonomous trucks and trailers hauled thereby

A system and method for operation of an autonomous vehicle (AV) yard truck is provided. A processor facilitates autonomous movement of the AV yard truck, and connection to and disconnection from trailers. A plurality of sensors are interconnected with the processor that sense terrain/objects and assist in automatically connecting/disconnecting trailers. A server, interconnected, wirelessly with the processor, that tracks movement of the truck around and determines locations for trailer connection and disconnection. A door station unlatches/opens rear doors of the trailer when adjacent thereto, securing them in an opened position via clamps, etc. The system computes a height of the trailer, and/or if landing gear of the trailer is on the ground and interoperates with the fifth wheel to change height, and whether docking is safe, allowing a user to take manual control, and optimum charge time(s). Reversing sensors/safety, automated chocking, and intermodal container organization are also provided.

Door restraint

A door restraint includes a base pad mounted on a wall adjacent to a designated door at a position where the doorknob would impact the wall if the door were fully opened. Attachable to the base pad is a housing having a deployable, spring-biased strap received therein. A loop at a distal end of the strap is secured to the doorknob to restrain the door in a fully opened position.

Latch system for hood of a machine

An interlock lever for actuating a latch member of a machine is disclosed. The latch member is configured to lock a hood of the machine in a closed position thereof. The machine has an input member being movable in a first direction to move the hood towards an opened position and a second direction to move the hood towards the closed position. The interlock lever includes a body coupled to a frame of the machine and a slot defined in the body. The body is movable between a first position and a second position. In the second position of the body, the slot allows movement of the input member in the first direction and actuates the latch member to allow the hood to move from the closed position. In the first position of the body, the slot prevents movement of the input member in the first direction.

Systems, apparatuses and methods provides for technology that moves a locking vent door from an opening position to a locking position, where in the opening position, the locking vent door opens a locking vent, and in the locking position, the locking vent door closes the locking vent. When the locking vent door is in the locking position, the technology prohibits movement of a handle from an engaged position to a disengaged position. When the locking vent door is in the opening position the technology moves the handle from the engaged position to the disengaged position, moves a lock from a locking position to an unlocking position, and moves a pressurization vent door from the pressurization position to the depressurization position based on the lock being moved from the locking position to the unlocking position.

VEHICLE QUARTER-PANEL WINDOW ASSEMBLY

Particular embodiments may provide a vehicle window assembly that includes a window pane, a latch, and a mount. The window pane is, in some embodiments, moveable to a closed position, a vented position, and an open position. The latch is, in some embodiments, coupled to a first edge of the window pane. In some embodiments, the mount is rotatably coupled to a second edge of the window pane. The mount and window pane are, in some embodiments, relatively rotatable by at least 45 degrees. In the open position, the mount and the window pane are relatively rotatable to a first angle of at least 45 degrees; in the vented position, the latch is configured to hold the window at a second angle less than 45 degrees; and in the closed position, the latch is configured to hold the window pane against a window seal.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED OPENING OF TRAILER DOORS

This invention provides a station for opening trailer swing doors that uses a sled with a manipulator arm and associated end effector/tool to perform the unlocking of the trailer lock rod, swinging open of the door, holding the door in the opened position and applying an resilient/flexible/springy retention clip thereto. The sled moves into and out of a confronting position relative to the trailer rear/doors to allow that trailer to drive into or out of the station at the beginning or end of the task. Closing of doors can also be performed at the station in the reverse order of steps. The door retention clip can be adapted with features that allow it to perform the various opening and closing tasks herein. The station can include tracks for guiding the sled between a non-interfering and interfering position with respect to the path of travel of the truck/trailer.
