Protective additional glazing systems, apparatus and methods for structural openings
09790735 · 2017-10-17 · ·

Protective glazing systems, apparatus, and associated methods for the protection of structural openings against impacts from projectiles from any cause, including nature or man. In some embodiments, the system may comprise a substantially unbreakable and clear or opaque panel, which may be at least substantially the same size (length and width) as the visible glass being protected, and may be anchored to the original glazing via standoff and/or anchor elements. Another embodiment may comprise a substantially unbreakable, ballistic-tolerant panel cut slightly larger than the visible original glazing being protected, said panel being attached to the structural opening via standoff and/or anchor means.

Bullet-resistent insulating glazing unit

An insulating glazing unit may be configured to provide both visible transparency and bullet-resistance. The bullet resistant properties of the unit may be achieved through the combination and coordination of different materials forming the panes of the unit. For example, the insulating glazing unit may include multiple laminate panes separated by a spacer. Each laminate pane may include at least two transparent rigid substrates joined by a layer of laminate material. The laminate material used in one laminate pane may be different than the laminate material used in another pane. For example, one pane may utilize a laminate material that is soft and flexible. This may help absorb and dissipate the impact of a projectile. By contrast, another laminate pane may utilize a laminate material that is stiff and rigid. This may help provide a final stopping force to a projectile.

Door Barricade
20170241173 · 2017-08-24 ·

Barricade devices and methods of barricading a door are disclosed. Such devices and methods may be used to barricade a door, and thereby prevent an intruder from entering a sheltering space, such as a classroom, storeroom, or hallway. The barricade-device may have a pivotable stop-device that is pivotable from a location adjacent to a door. The pivot-location may be at an elevation that is lower than a door handle on the door. The stop-device may be pivotable from a reserve-position to a stop-position. In the reserve-position, the stop-device does not barricade the door. In the barricade-position, the stop-device barricades the door. Operation of the barricade-device may require the use of one or more major muscle groups of the body, but need not require precise dexterity of the fingers or hands (e.g. such as that required to manipulate small keys, latches, and/or the grasping and turning of assemblies). As such, the barricade-device may be used properly and quickly by a wide range of people having differing physical and mental capabilities.

AIR-TIGHT DOOR SYSTEM AND AIR-TIGHT DOOR CONTROL METHOD

An air-tight door system and a control method therefor. The air-tight door comprises a first door (M1), a second door (M2), a first door detection module (S1, S2, P1), a second door detection module (S3, S4, P2) and a controller (K). The air-tight door control method comprises: the first and second detection modules (S1, S2, P1, S3, S4, P2) detect whether the first door (M1) and the second door (M2) are completely closed; and the controller (K) controls opening and closing of the first door (M1) and the second door (M2) according to whether the first and second doors (M1, M2) are completely closed. The air-tight door system and the control method therefor ensure that at least one door is in the closed state at any time, thereby further improving air-tightness and device safety.
